Ordering Japanese Manga Online

Normally, I would just go to a local Japanese book store like Kinokuniya, Asahiya, and Book Off. But I unfortunately don't live near any of those stores. Anyway, so I've been looking around for buying manga in Japanese online. So far, I've used only yesasia.com but I hate waiting 2-4 weeks to recieve my manga. >> I previously used amazon japan when you could still choose 1200yen shipping. I've checked out benippon and it's pretty much the same as yesasia.
I'm thinking about ordering from bk1 but I'm hesitant to buy from them since they don't tell me how much my order weighs and I can't figure out how much my shipping will cost. >_< I've heard some say that they only charge with tax but I don't know if this is true.
Anybody got any ideas?

Hi.
BK1 is the only place I personally use because Amazon is way too expensive. Buying imported manga from the US is almost guaranteed to have a bad-markup. Bk1 has no markup. If I absolutely cannot find manga on BK1, I use nippon-export, but since they only offer EMS shipping for manga, it is extremely pricey and only for books I can't get elsewhere >>;
The shipping on BK1 is a bit of an issue. It can be pretty tough to gauge what the price is going to be
http://www.bk1.jp/docs/help/He_e04 That's a document from their FAQ about different shipping methods to foreign countries. At the bottom of the page is a quick little guide to approximately how many grams items weigh...usually comics weight about 150~200 grams each, so you can use the rates below to figure how much your shipping's going to cost you...

(Airmail rates- the middle one is to North America)

(Sea Rates)
I personally use 航空便 (airmail) to ship, and it usually takes anywhere from 6~9 days to get here (TX)I usually try not to get more than 15 books with airmail. Usually 15 standard-sized tankoubans will run shipping up to close to 3,000yen. (They weigh close to 2.5 kg)
Any more books than that, then I just use 船便 (surface/boat mail lol). It takes about 5-6 weeks for me, but the books are in excellent condition and packed very well. I use this when I don't mind waiting for my books lol.
Anymore questions and I can answer them!! 🙂

I agree with Pediatricia, BK1 is a great site for affordable prices and shipping especially if you don't mind waiting times.
There's also an English guide to buying from there. See my post here. 😉

Yes! This guide is great, esp for people who don't navigate Japanese sites with ease xD
I've been meaning to find this to help my friend order from there- thanks for refreshing my memory! 🙂
