I'm glad you didn't ask at AQS...(I hope you didn't...) We wouldn't offer them to you since we support buying the English releases.

Off topic:
How good is Del Rays version of Negima. I know they do a really good job on all the manga of theirs I've read but I havn't compared to a scan.

Their first problems of Negima were pretty bad, but their recent ones are very good! That's about the most general thing I can think of for Del Rey and Negima...(There's also that Southern/Thousand Master thing...)

You have to admit that the southern/thousand thing was pretty amusing at the time...
besides, Del Rey actually went back and changed it to the correct translation along with a formal apology.
... now that's what I call "damn."

An apology would be if they refunded or allowed me to exchange the books I already own.

I didn't laugh. ;-)

That I was never aware of. I haven't bothered to look at the early volumes on the shelf (not that I could since they are shrink-wrapped), so I didn't know that they'd fixed that bit of domestication. Did they ever say why they used "Southern Master?"
In addition to that problem, the original English adaptor, Peter David, inserted some of his own humor into the text which was not part of the original. One such scene was when Negi first met Shizuna-sensei. Peter is supposedly the one who added the "Can I have a cookie?" joke when Negi finds his face in her chest.
Today, Negima! is more accurate and fan-friendly. I know leaving Japanese terms in translations drive some folks spare, but it really adds to the flavor of the manga. Eva-chan using "boya" rather than "boy" just adds some sass to the English translation (and indeed, sass that I believe would be felt in the Japanese version) that just adds texture to the character. I love how Del Rey is handling the title.
I have noticed that AQS's translation of what the most excellent Chachazero says seems a bit more bloodthirsty at times than the official Del Rey translation.

It always amuses me when I see people blow tiny little issues all out of proportion. They should have giving everyone new books, just because of one minor, and totally unimportant, mistake? Give me a break! 🙄
Del Rey may make a few mistakes, but they are IMO so much better than some of the other US manga importers (coughtokyopopcough) that there is no comparision.

For the Del Rey thing, I love how they are doing Negima!. They are pretty good compared to a lot of other publishers. I love how they have left the honorific system and other japanese terms. The extras included in the back are also good. The southern thing isn't in the newer versions of the manga anymore.

I understand what you guys are saying, but why download anything? I've always just viewed manga online (unless I couldn't find them - then it was time to download them 😁 )
