I've read a few doujins & fanfics, and was not impressed. (_)
I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but (to me) it's not worth hunting for the good ones among all the..........not so good ones. 🤣

95% of those (fanfics and doujins) I come across I don't like, so I just don't bother. I think the lewd situations just destroys the characters. I feel that doujins are more or less just fanservice that is necessary for the people who want them. It spares the author the trouble.

Only ever read yaoi DJs (of which I have a huge collection). I'm not particularly interested in reading non-yaoi DJs of mangas.

I only read comedic doujinshi (non-sexual and non-romantic). But there's no option for that, and I don't really like any other doujinshi, so "I only like non-sexual doujinshi" doesn't quite fit. So, I picked "I don't like/don't read doujinshi."
I'd like to say that I dislike pairings in doujinshi. I'm not interested in romance fantasies. Not that there's anything wrong with them, I just don't like them. But as for "I love to see my favorite characters in lewd situations"? How childish, dull, and utterly stupid. Gives doujinshi a bad name--not to mention doujinshi readers. Take your little porn and yaoi fantasies and put 'em where the sun don't shine; the world will be a better place.
As for drawing doujinshi... I do come up with stories sometimes, but... to write them down or actually make a doujinshi using them sort of... takes away the amorphous charm they have while they're floatin' around in my mind. It's difficult to describe, but that's the way I felt after I tried to write a manuscript for one. Or maybe I'm just not a good writer. 🤣 But also, I can't draw well enough to make a doujinshi that would satisfy my standards of artistic quality.

Do you realize that doujinshi are self-published works of literature. Fanfiction is not necessarily doujinshi, and doujinshi is not necessarily manga. I don't like fanfiction. Though I'm sure there are good ones, I don't want to waste my time to search for them few. As for doujinshi... They can be good as any novels, manga etc., but I rarely ever read them.

I voted "I don't like/don't read doujinshi", although its more accurate to say that I'm not interested.

Holy crap, I completely overlooked that! My mistake.
Almost all of the doujinshi I see are manga fan works, so when I think "doujinshi," that's all that pops into my head.
So I guess I should set the record straight here: As for doujinshi that aren't fan stuff, I don't have anything particularly against them or for them... that is, I don't really think of them or treat them any differently than the officially published stuff.

Liverpool 4 - 1 Man Utd + playing at Old Trafford + all the tension + beer = A very happy Reds fan 🙂
i've read only a few dj, mostly because almost all of them are either hentai or yaoi\shounen ai, i usually like to read romantic ones from action mangas with cannon couples, since there isnt enough romantic scenes in most action manga, and i hate reading hentai djs with characters i like...

i only like non-sexual doujinshi.
I love those fluffy ones, but there really really hard to find amongst all the yaoi ones.
but i do have to admit that once i have a favourite pairing i sometimes read alittle smuttier ones

I read doujinshi looking for a good funny parody (yeah, hentai ones). They don't have to be my favorite characters. As long as I know the characters and the artwork is acceptable in my eyes, I will read it. Rape, heroine gang raped by a bunch of unknown old men/monsters, guro, etc are absolutely no to me. 😔 🤢
There should be more doujinshi of shoujo/josei serieses scanlated. There aren't many currently.
I don't completely agree that it's all about what we fans would want to see but don't get to see. I am OK with any pairing (and 3somes and orgies) usually. I like surprise and being amused. 😀
I read non-sexual doujinshi too. I am quite peculiar about yaoi/shounen-ai doujinshi (haven't read many of them actually). Bad drawing style, boring looking/sounding or pairings I am not interested in? = Won't read. They are generally not as expilcit as hentai djs. Many I read are just fluff then smut - pretty boring.
