Hello ~

I'm speaking on behalf of the group Easy Going Scans as I am the founder.

Lately we have problems with our releases and manga updates.

**1st problem: **Some of our releases are being delayed for hours while others get aprooved right away while we release all of them at the same time (most of the times)

Can someone please explain me why this is happening?

We are releasing more less 3 chapters per day and this is a problem for us.
The very least we want all of our releases to be approved at the same time. Just they way we official release on our website.

2nd Problem: Some of our releases get released when we don't want to... and not by any of the admins of our group. Meaning... someone else is adding our releases to manga updates and that someone approves them while declining the release that our admin made.

I am starting to doudt the integrity of manga updates so I would really appreciate a honest answer on this.

Regards
Claudia ~

Just a short follow-up..

Claudia is referring, for example, to the fact that I pushed the updates of Rainbow and Hell Teacher Nube at the same time. Rainbow was approved shortly thereafter but HTN had been pending for hours (it just got approved). It has happened a few times.

Out of curiosity, how does that work? Are they handled separately? And another question, is it possible for a group to block updates except for a few staff designed staff members? We've also had a problem once where Noblesse ended up on MU before I even had the chance to make the front page post.

First problem: Well, some releases probably get delayed because either the MU staff is busy or there's not an admin/moderator to approve of the release. Long as it shows up eventually on the right day what's the big deal?

Second problem: Maybe it's one of your own staff members doing this? You were very vague with the time difference between when Noblesse is complete and when it is released on MU. Or perhaps you should make an announcement to your fans telling them about this issue because it's not as if MU staff has power over the person adding the releases. Unless you want to them to always check your site before they allow it to be put up as a release.

I am just gonna answer to the second part of your answer. There is no way whatsoever that any of our staff members would do a release.Only the admins do it.

I've been visiting family members for the past three or so weeks. Therefore, one less person has been around to deal with releases. As for what is going on right now, in all likelihood, if someone is on when one release is up they can approve it, but if they sign out/go anywhere before the next release is added, they can't approve it. There are other cases where the scanlator adds a release to this site before he/she updates their own site/channel/forum... and sometimes before he/she has uploaded the release onto a webhost. Also, if the person that is approving the releases can't access one of the releases, then that release will not be approved... whether he/she can't access IRC at that time or what-have-you.

As for releases getting added to this site that were not added by your group's admins, we approve releases that are "real", as in releases that can be accessed by the general population on a scanlation group's site/channel/forum. IF there are problems with "unreal" getting approved, then your release can be put on automatic hold. This is when ONLY admins on our site can approve the release. However, this will delay your releases even more then normal, because some admins only come on at certain times of the day. So, if only lamb comes on one day, your release can be delayed 12+ hours.

Well, I have run out of time, back to my vacation.

Hmm, apparently I didn't see this thread when it was posted days ago...My bad.

If you didn't already know, adding releases to MU is not exclusive to a certain group. Any person can submit a release for any group. So if someone else adds a certain entry to MU first, we decline your exact same entry since yours was second.

1st problem: Some of our releases are being delayed for hours while others get aprooved right away while we release all of them at the same time (most of the times)

I've often approved your releases in the past, but my computer broke two weeks ago and I had to wait for a new one to be delivered. That may be a partial cause for the additional wait. Also, as others have mentioned, the wait time is determined purely by the availability of admins. The more eyes on releases, the faster the approvals come out. Nothing more to it than that.

Of course, I have to admit that some of us have biases. I will never approve a yaoi release simply because I do not want to check to see if the release is legitimate. While I highly doubt this is the case for your group, seeing as you do not release any questionable content, some moderators may skip over approving your releases due to personal preference.

2nd Problem: Some of our releases get released when we don't want to... and not by any of the admins of our group. Meaning... someone else is adding our releases to manga updates and that someone approves them while declining the release that our admin made.

I'd just like to add to what Toto and lamb said: if you've done an official release, anybody can add it to MangaUpdates. That's all there is to it.

Ah there is one more "bug" it seems...

While our group is doing daily releases it seems that our release count is going backwards...

Cause it was **996 ** on 4th of september now it is **927 **
😔

Well, you have 929 (9 pages of 100, plus 1 page of 29) releases on your group release page. Are there any missing from there?

Well... checking nearly 1000 releases to see if there is something missig there it just not sound that much appealing to me 😛 for some reason...

But what I believe happened is that up to 4th of september you guys were counting chapters and from that day on that thing changed.

For example if one day we release 10 chapters of a manga it counts as 1 release.
We have more than 1000 releases on our bot and 900 something it says on manga updates.

Does it really matter? As long as it still notifies that the chapters are released. You're making a mountain out of a molehill here.

Nope. We count by "release" which means a release of ten chapters is one release. This policy hasn't changed.

For the record, this information is all computer-generated. We haven't changed the back-end for it, so I have absolutely zero idea where this discrepancy came from.

Really? The recent releases of L-DK have either not been on the associated groups' sites in a publically accessible manner or have been released restricted to members of their invite only community, and yet 3 releases of this manner have been accepted on Manga Updates.

If you are referring to Mabushii Scanlations:

Overview:

  • You must join this community as a livejournal member (Request for membership)
  • Then you must comment in this post, to be successfully added as a member

Is very similar to joining a forum and posting X amount of times to access a release.

In fact, their post requirement is 1.

There is one group that requires 35 posts, and we allow their releases.
