I think just the vast amount of manga i've read over the years has perked my interest in the japanese culture.

Also most of the new technology comes from Japan, and I like my technology 🤣

Quote from StarlightDreams

I'm Asian, it's my nature. 😮

That explains it. xD

But I guess the reason I got into it was because I've been constantly exposed to it. Sailor Moon kept on airing over and over, along with those other old classic shows. It's hard not to get into it. And when you're addicted to anime, you eventually get curious about manga. Some move onto dramas. Or at least this applied to me.

Nothing really influenced me. I first tried reading Naruto because I was bored, and then I fell in love with manga in general.

If you're wondering how I first heard of Naruto, though, my twin was reading it.

I wouldn't say I'm particularly into Japanese culture, I said previously that I'm only really interesting in Manga and Anime as a medium of entertainment itself. Sure I know snippets of what Japanese culture is like through it, but it really hasn't sparked my interest to actually study the culture without physically going to Japan.

Most interest would have probably sparked from that fact that I'm Thai, Thailand (where I'm from) is apparently in the top 5 when it comes to Japanophile population (source isn't very reliable but it does make sense). It is very strange how I find that most Thai people are more interested in other Asian cultures than their own. They prefer Korean/Taiwanese pop-stars, they love Chinese and Japanese soaps. Its all overwhelmingly annoying, when Thai pop-stars try to imitate Korean one. (Sorry I have this thing against the whole androgynous movement in Thailand where they think men that look like women are considered as the ultimate sex appeal.)

I find somethings that happen in Japan to be laughable or just make me feel worst about the human race. But no place has its merits without its bad side. I'd say I'm interested in going to Japan just like any-other country and just experiencing the history and the culture the country has to offer. (As in not going there to pick up local chicks or lay on the beach for a week and probably hike mount Fuji for a day with a friend). Not to buy doujins or limited edition stuff that most otakus tend to dream about when they go to Japan.
