I gotta give it to the original, mostly just cuz it was the game that got me into the FPS genre.
Glados is a bitch. She made me kill the companion cube, the only friend I'll ever have. 😢

Im not that much of a fan of the Halo series (overhyped) but I think Halo 1 is the best game by far. It is by far the best in terms of storyline and I had the best times on its multiplayer 🙂

Haha, Halo sucks.
Microsoft just keeps failing.
Considering they made over 170 million dollers the day the game came out, I believe you to be wrong.
In fact, Halo 3 made more in one day than any movie did opening weekend last year, and thats a huge statement to make (even if some may not fully understand it).
Personally, the first was my favorite.
The second game brought many good things with it, but the third was a disappointment.
The first was the best because not only was it the longest, you go into it with certain expectations, and it doesn't leave you hanging.
Although playing as The Arbiter in the second game was pretty awesome, not including him in his own type of Campaign was a disappointment in the third game.
I feel that including the Plasma Sword was a bad idea, because its cheap and takes zero skill to use. Including the Gravity Hammer in the third game is akin to the Plasma Sword being included in the second.
These one-hit kill weapons are what weakens the games credibility, significantly.

I don't think it was the quailty of the game that made it sell so much, it was basically the way the marketed it.

The second game was too scripted on campaign, which took away from it IMO. It was funner playing a survivor on a ring and being given one simple order "Point and shoot"
I personally didn't care for the arbiter's story line as I thought that Halo should have been just about Chief like the first one. The Arbiter gave an interesting perspective to the story, but I just didn't care to play the levels.

I loved the plasma sword, I had always wanted it since seeing it in Halo 1 , but it is a really cheap weapon to use. If they removed the sprint feature then the one-hit kill would probably not be too bad.
But I agree with how it was a bad idea to include the grav hammer. Its a bit cheaper since its attack hit your enemy and anyone around him. It like a melee bomb.

The first one was the only one worth a shit, after that they decided to attract the wrong kind of audience for me. It became some kind of commercial fiend fest and not the party fun I enjoyed so much before.

no movie goes for 50 bucks a pop.
someone would have to see a movie about 5 times in two days to equal one halo game.
further more it was released internationally on the same date. to my knowledge movies do not get realesed in countries like singapore the same day they are released in north america.

i like halo 3, but dont like the fact that a casual gamer wont stand a chance on xbox live, it's even worse in CoD 4
Yeah, the first one was best. But I think it was only because it was "revolutionary". In my opinion, the two that followed tried to--but failed to--capitalize on the first one's success.

International release isn't even counted. This is what it made in North America only, where movies are all released at the same time. International is an entirely seperate thing.
Also, the game was $60.00.
While true movies don't cost that price, the fact that the game made as much as it did made alot of executives at many studios notice the potential in video games. That was the point I was trying to explicate.
Also, it doesn't really matter if something doesn't get released in Singapore, they'll find a way to illegally bootleg it, anyways. They had Spider-Man 3 on DVD before it even came out in theaters in America (I remember seeing this on the News).
Eiskaltnz;
I agree completely. The games marketing and the hype surrounding it are what caused it to profit so much. Irregardless of that fact, the fact remains it made the most money of any video game in history.
Haiyeth;
I disagree. I think adding The Arbiter's story made the game seem more real. In any war, both sides are fighting for their beliefs. Sometimes those beliefs are wrong by moral standards, but the fact remains people will always fight for what they believe in. I believe the game was trying to point this out as a fact. This made the game seem more realistic, and actually set up the fact that The Arbiter would be an ally in the third game (if you pay attention, its noticeable).
I agree about the Gravity Hammer. The effects are nice, and all, but it feels too cheap. The first game, it basically went "Oh man, that Plasma Sword is awesome, wish I could play with that", and the second game, Bungie gave it to us to play with, then they mock us by giving Tartarus a Gravity Hammer and then everyones like "Oh man, that Gravity Hammer is awesome, wish I could play with that", then they put it in the third game.
It makes the games feel cheap, to me.
funkmu1;
Don't even get me started on Call of Duty 4, that game is so easy I get bored by it. You don't even to aim or anything. Sure, the game is realistic, but when you get taken out by one bullet, it gets boring quickly.

I've only played the first one.... was ok I guess.... but by then I was pretty bored with FPS games.
Halo is way overrated, IMHO.
The only new FPS I'd play nowadays is probably BioShock.

I gotta say the original was the best. The other ones just seemed to be getting easier (specifically Halo 2) and the original just gave the best impression to me.
