besides, who else can bring the Vongola family back to the present other than Shouichi? he was the one who developed the white circular machine anyway.

And in an interesting paradox...if he dies here he won't live to develop the machine that brought everyone back thus he lives or suddenly everyone poofs as this time line of events is no longer feasible.
