I don't know if someone has suggested this before (or if its even a possibility...)

I would suggest there would be a way to filter the manga on the releases so for instance if I was looking for a manga with a shoujo genre I could filter out everything that wasn't shoujo and just have the shoujo show up. It would be tag based, I would find this very helpful.

Just an idea, I don't even know if its possible, haha.

Go to "User CP", then "Release Filtering" and choose colors to highlight your favorite genres on the release page.
