mmm, unfortunately, i no longer play online rpg games since i was about 13 years old. Once upon a time, I was in the "13 phase" (omg, no way...). I played my first online rpg, legend of the red dragon on a local bbs. I became so addicted, my life pretty much revolved around the game. I played multiple characters to level my character up, etc (which was against the rules). I was so addicted, that when the clock turned to midnight (and you could do a fresh 30 fights in the forest), I figured out you could knock whoever was online (there were only 2 access lines) off by calling the sysop's home phone number, which would transfer somehow to one of his bbs lines for the answering machine. He eventually banned my ass (which is obvious to me now why he did it), but i ended up sending him a message cussing him out pretty bad. He mailed the message to my parents and I got grounded for a month.

In the end, I made a pact with myself never to play another game that does not end for the rest of my life. (this is pretty much most online rpg games). I have since stayed true to this pact.

down with the online rpgs!!!!

I like games like oblivion though. I pretty much play just about anything.

Oblivion is worse as online RPGs. You can get really lost into the reality of that game... I heard.

Oblivion isn't so much fun gameplay wise as much as it is fun for the sake of fun. I've been "playing" for several months now and I never actually do anything. Most of my joy comes from modding and exploring. It's like Sims 2 with actual objectives.

And most of the RPGing I've done has been forum/tabletop based. I love a good computer or console RPG every now and then but most of them seem to be slight modifications of the same theme. I stick mostly to RTS and fighting games. I guess that puts me in the minority here. D:

I got up to around 70 hours of gameplay time on oblivion. I did all the guilds and the main quest line... (and some miscellaneous quests) and then that was it. I considered the game over...

I guess I just don't play RPGs correctly ;)

The real purpose of RPG game is to entertain the player, but over the past few years, players mistakenly used it for a different purpose. Most modern players play it as some sort of 'chore' they have to perform. Instead of entertainment and relaxation, games are giving them depression and a big headache.

'mainly' is so vague a term

Okay... I play RPG alot. Alas, my taste is abit too specialized (not like my manga taste). I like those RPG with lotsa details AND a progressive storyline. Needless to say, my list of "favourite" is short, my list of "dabble but never complete" is too long

When my bloodlust go way up I play strategy games, or better yet, tactical games. Massacre by hundreds is good for bloodlust control. Shooters rely and demand too much on my reflex just so I dont feel interested.

Once upon a time I completed a horror/survival/RPG called Parasite Eve II.
Nice bath scene, good collection of weapons, okay storyline and beautiful heroine.

City building like Impression's game series (Caesar, Zeus...) is pretty damn good.

Adventure game demand too much on hardware graphics cry

Sports: no

Haha I think have a similar story as manick, me and my friend were beta jumping between MMOPRGs like RO,Fairy Land, FLYFF and many..many...many...more. I won't disagree with the fact that it was entertaining playing the games the first 50hours but during the grinding I usually wandered off arund the world trying to interact with people..which usually ended up with comments like...."Wtf Kser u r here to stel my loot no?!" or "haha n00b my lvl beter than you lvl lolo" So to actually try entertaining myself I went on a jurney to find well..fun? So one day this random guy forced me to help him level and that's when it hit me...He joined my party and I dragged him out to a desert zone about 30 levels higher than him and left him in the middle of the desert bigrazz So in the end I wondered what's the point of playing the game if the only way to enjoy yourself is by being mean not to mention that it was a total waste of time? So I swore to never touch MMORPGs again...it makes people evil.. mad ...

Who wouldn't love RPG? Well, i prefer MMORPG as something to play when getting bore bigrazz The only game that I played so far is only GoonZu. I got addicted to that game sooo much that i play everyday and each day i increase about 7 levels up eyes it's true. Maple Story is also a famous one but i don't like it none i think it's pretty hard compares to Goonzu. Probably because i don't like jumping xD

I love rpg games i've played every final fantasy games since ff7, and many of square-enix's games, i also liked the tales series, .hack, wild arms and my current fav xenogears...

but i don't get what the big deal is about mmorpg's...sure i play from time to time but instantly get bored after a week of playing since i feel like i got no purpose in playing them other than lvling to 100 or getting the best items...the only mmorpg i haven't abandoned yet is world of warcraft but i'm slowly getting tired of it...

I lplay rpg's for the stories they tell rather than the graphics...I play WoW since it tells a story...maybe...and since the story on warcraft III left me somewhat...hmmm...unsatisfied(for a lack of a better term)... sad

is the need for speed series a kind of RPG game? if so, i'm a loyal RPG gamer....i love the MW version, and other level-up-character games, too...i'm more into the sniping kind with a good plot, though, such as IGI 1 & 2...the only FF version i've played is no. VIII...i'm looking forward to the FFXIII one...i just saw a trailer of it and i'm absolutely ecstatic about the graphic & the vision of playing it on the PS3...i also like some mmorpg, such as MU, RO, silkroad, but it seems like most people who play online games these days are more focus on socializing with other players, not playing...i remember the good o' days on MU, when i finally maxed my characters and just sit around dueling with others biggrin ....btw, if anyone here had played in the alliance mu server, my nick is nove bigrazz

I play far to many RPGs, mostly traditional, but I do play World of Warcraft aswell (Just started, though).

I enjoy alot of other types of games, too. Like racing and fighting games. I have about 15 or so fighting games (Including all the Soul Caliburs, Marvel vs. Capcom, Capcom vs SNK, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Hyper Street Fighter II, Killer Instinct, etc), and I have alot of racing games, too. I mostly enjoy the Burnout and Need For Speed series (Carbon was fun, racing down a mountain side is awesome, reminds me alot of Initial D), and needless to say, who doesn't enjoy Burnout Revenge? biggrin
