@ stealth. lmao year. i can't believe u did all that for luck. i found that stat to be practically pointless after everything else gets jacked. i never got excalibur 2 either. rushing to the end in 12 hours sounds a bit much for me. plus it is useless since u can get all abilities etc without it.
@ silent.
i have the original. should be the same as the greatest hits. on that note i gotta say i won't buy a greatest hits version of a ps2 game though. i hate the casing and the fact that it says greatest hits. just uglies up the collection. the creation part of the game is what takes a lot of time. along with redoing the sphere grid. i spent like 100 hours each time i played. catching 10 of every monster is hard as hell with the random battles. etc. i'm sry but until u beat those creations and redo that sphere grid u can't say u beat FFX. everything else doesn't really take that long and the difficulty isn't that bad. try catching 10 of every monster in the omega dungeon. that is a pain in the ass. at least stealth knows my pain. right buddy! 😀 😀
as for Tactics. this flea market in my hometown(Daytona,Fl). has just as much ps1 games as ps2. maybe more. they had 5 greatest hits versions of tactics last time i was there. that is around the time i bought mine. i didn't really wanna buy it but...its FF so i went ahead. that game shop i go to usually has rare stuff and its all at normal prices. sometimes cheaper. people from other shops buy their stuff then try to resell it
anywho that is where i buy most of my games. only reason i buy elsewhere is cause i am stuck in orlando for school. but for exmple. i got Digital Devil Saga 1 there for 30 bucks. included the OST perfect Condition. from the same series i got Nocturne. the limited edition for 35 or 40. can't remember. either way u can try to find these online but they are jacked out price wise. for example people are trying to sell DDS1 online for 100+.
i luv that place.

I say I had the greatest hits version but I paided the price of the greatest hits version and got one of the original copies. Right now I'm about to restart the game (sad thing is that the graphics still look good even today).

ye the graphics aren't bad at all. i don't really see a need to increase it all that much, especially for an rpg. on the other hand have you played enchanted arms yet? i did at a friends. completed like a fourth of the game.
gotta say the graphics are awesome. freakin beautifully made. the story was great too. IMO. i luv stuff like that. only problem was the way they did conversations. it was like wild arms 4 with the pictures and words instead of the 3d characters speaking by voice actor/dialog boxes. sigh. i'll buy that game to complete when i get an xbox 360/ps3. whichever i feel like buying first

Enchanted Arms, I loved the game the first time I played it, about when it came out, but after playing it again this year I was disappointed. I'm not going to go into detail as to the differences that I saw the second time since it would take up to much space.

that is the version i have so yeah it did work. still does.
EDIT-it would make sense though to work. if i remember correctly one of the creation monsters drops weapons that have an ability or two on them that goes with that combo. that floating eyeball monster thingy i think.

hmm perhaps the following additional method is not working in us version, first I kill both of my party member leaving one person alive, then engage an enemy, during the battle I rapidly press triangle non stop for like 10min or something min then kill the enemy, after that I got max AP

triangle is for defend in jap version, I tried the same in us version but it didnt give me the same amount of AP like in the jap version.

ah why defend though?. i found it easier to fight a juggernaut monster with the Ap trick. let it kill you a few times. if i remember correctly there is an ability that makes people automatically revive others with a phoenix down. that can come in handy if u have in on equipment.

as far as I remember you can gain overdrive if your char is alone in the battle by defending
