The most popular choice is to have amnesia be the inciting incident at the very beginning of a series. So the reader will discover how the world works at the same time as the main character.

Anyway, the answer is obvious: beast ears on top and no human ears.

Beast ears on top and no human ears and no cheating with hair. Make them animalistic too. Claws, a hunched back, a tail, a snout, fangs, etc. Did I just praise the upcoming Cats movie...
I mean to praise Beastars. The scrips and especially characterizations are a bit incoherent but the art is honed to near perfection. No one can beast Blacksad though, even if some of the women look too human.

For real though. Sex-starved housewives/furries made the musical a billion-dollar hit and Uncanny Valley - The Movie will equally print money, as it´s impossible to look away. Every single cat has it´s own wiki article too.

Beast ears on top and no human ears

This one took me a second... not because I was torn, but because I was trying to imagine what beast ears on the side even look like. Even Inui Pure's big droopy dog ears start from the top of her head.

The obvious worst choice is for them to have both beast and human ears. Do they actually hear things twice or are the second set of ears some kind of fucking decoration?? Even when they're literally just a human wearing a kemonomimi headband, I want their hair to be covering the damn human ears....

Seeing no human ears can be freaky ...but having two sets of ears makes no sense. (kinda depends on art style, I think)
I'm a bit torn on that.

...but "Beast ears on side"!? WTF!? O_o
That is just pure wrong, on every level, in every way.
(well, unless it's an animal that actually has it's ears on the side, of course)

Also, most beast ear are cat ears so for this poll I chose on top. However I rather it be anywhere that ears suppose to be on the animal it originated from like if it's monkey ears side would look better than on top of head.

it makes no sense to have both sets of ears. I hate it so much that I stopped reading manga with that kind of art.
