Filler episodes are the worst, most of the time it only adds confusion to later episode when they weirdly refer to one of the filler story mmm...
But even when it's stand alone filler, most of the time it's very bad and only downgrade the whole anime so One series with a new season when there's enough new material is the only way to go for me mmm...

One Piece is how not to do it. Most episodes when I stopped watching were 5 minutes content in 24 minutes of episodes. I did like their side stories though, a few of those are great.

Mostly I binge things since I wait until they are all released and then continue over a few days until done.

One series with a new season when there's enough new material. MHA and AOT made bank like this recently but AOT waited a bit too long for S2 and clearly diminished its grasp on the Zeitgeist along the way. OPM equally waited a year too long for S2 but the sharp drop in animation quality and direction was the bigger problem there.

Individual anime with reboots of a longer length is the worst option present and good luck reissuing the inferior version(s) later on. Not that filler is great or anything but the viewer can aways opt-out with guides and whatnot and not adapting a good work is its own form of torture... if all too common.

Edit: One Piece started to adapt one chapter per ep in the 2010s and even occasionally uses additional filler eps. Outside of original movies, tv specials and so on along the way that confuse the canon further. The manga occasionally skips a week so the full filler eps seem to be kept to a minimum. One series with a new season when there's enough new material, obviously. I don't even know why they'd use either of the other two options, except of course to milk more cash out of the series. (Maybe they think that if they break between seasons they'd lose popularity? But having fillers and recaps or constant reboots is much more off-putting, in my opinion.)

Filler is universally garbage. My second choice after my answer would've been "don't make an anime in the first place".

I'm of a similar opinion mainly because there's no reason to explore the adaptation if it's just the same content as the original. Personally, the only "acceptable adaptations" are those that take the original and then proceed to do their own thing with it.

I went for the second options, fillers are just irritating when you are waiting to see the result of a fight or maybe a confession or something. Reboots or going their own way is just as bad.

Just look at Fullmetal Alchemist, the first one was a original and was pure garbage, it was down to the Evangelion depression levels with a ending that never made any sense at all. Then Brotherhood was made and followed the Manga and was a masterpiece compared to the first one.

So htey should either go after the Novel if that one os finished or see what they have work with and make a season out of that and wait until enough chapters have been made to make another Anime.

Oh, and they should always follow the Novel/Manga rather than making things up themself. Zero no Tsukaima is a great example on how you should not deviate from the source material. The end of season 2 was pure garbage and nobody acknowledge that season 3 even exist because of what they did with it....

It wouldn't have been that bad if they had only adapted the manga material and stopped while waiting for a second season. I've never seen anyone knowledgeable actually claiming that FMAB had a better direction than FMA2003 did.

It's pretty much the same with HxH2011 too, a lot of such reboots seem to be pretty subpar.

But well, I'll go with the last option: don't adapt something for the sake of animating it. And as a sidenote, FMA2003 is not what you call an original work and in fact, it's closer to fact adaptations are usually like in the western side of the world.
