High School

Well I am in my last year of Junior High and I'm curious to know what it's like. Am I going to get beat up? Are there lots of cool clubs like there is in manga? Is it super hard or almost the same as middle school?
It all mostly depends on how big your school is because my school didn't really have all that much clubs just sports teams. High school can probably be your best years of your life, it was for me since I just graduated high school this year

Depends on your personality.
If you're a people person it'll be an awesome social experience and maybe you'll actually learn something along the way.
If you're a bitter misanthrope like I am, it'll be the single greatest source of despair for the next 4 years of your life. I honestly don't know what kept me from putting the gun to my teeth back then.
Difficulty = null. American standards are falling, and public education shows it.
I am not prostrate. I am looking at the sky on the other side of Earth.

well it really depends. I'm a freshman this year so I couldn't tel you that much about high school life.
all mostly depends on how big your school is because my school didn't really have all that much clubs just sports teams. My school isn't too big in size, but there are a lot of clubs (including an anime club) and sports clubs. Depending th ethe high school you're going to, it could be hard or easy. usually the transition from middle to high school needs time to adapt, but I have to say that most high schools are harder than middle schools. take mine for example, I have about 5 hrs of hw per night and Ap classes, so it's not easy at all. just like the others say, it depends. mostly you just have to adapt to the new environment. find some true friends 🙂 my school has many clubs and sports teams. usually one goes to a high school thats harder and has better standards so i think it should be slightly harder than middle school(grades-wise). also, there wont be as many poster projects(which im quite happy about). even though I'm not a "people person", high school so far has been fun for me. Also, people get surprisingly more mature. I still remember when people used to laugh at each other at little things. You probably won't get beat up since people consider how colleges look at their applications.

it jus depends on ur personality and how u interact wit others...if ur "alone" type of person or "outgoing" type of person. for me, i was inbetween...cuz i liked to hav fun but only wit my circle of friends...ima shy type so it takes me awhile to start talkin to some random person...but now tht im in college...im changin tht part cuz u hav to talk to ppl to get through some classes and also classes change very fast so u always hav to make new friends....so high skool overall was good experience, but sometimes i wish i did some things different like studying and not jus chillin and being lazy lol

Well, my high school was I'd say so so. Though the funds were cut due to continuous years of bad scoring but that only happened the year after i left... lucky! I was an unofficial member of the manga/game club there was one when i went there. I never got beat up personally but there were a few gang fights that broke out during lunch the last year i was there. Its true though what Pirate1019 says American schools have very low standards i didn't read the textbooks like they tell you too but i passed with decent scores.
I was a loner i had a very small group of friend but that was because i was teased from elementary to half way through high school for stupid things like my sense of style. Kids can be so harsh over stupid things.
It really depends on the school you're going to. I choose to go to a school that not a lot of people would want to go to or would have picked. It turned out to be a pretty good decision.
Because not a lot of people wanted to go to my school, I knew EVERYONE and everyone knew me. But not in a "small town: I know everyone since elementary school" kind of way.
We had lots of clubs and sports teams, at least the major ones. We didn't have cliques at our school. So everyone got along, at least to some degree. No one got beat up, unless, of course, you're just asking for it.
The down point in going to such a small school is that we get targeted for budget cuts.

In NYC, high school classes are about the same as middle school except you don't stick to the same people in the same classes. Everyone is run on different schedules to attend different classes depending on what kind of grades you have. If you are lucky, you'll land in a high school that let's you take advanced classes in the summer. I've known people who didn't even need a senior year who went this route. Others went to school for half a day for less. The advantages of this should be obvious to anyone
If you are unlucky though, and go to a garbage public school, you could be surrounded by morons with no future hoping to drag as many people down with them as possible. The teachers will suck ass and the only clubs there would fly colors. Avoid them. Transfer schools if you have to.
Regardless, concentrate on the ACT or SAT exams while looking for driving lessons, volunteer work or part time jobs. Unless you have some kind of insane skill like national level athletics or you think you can make it your career, Highschool clubs just aren't as useful as volunteer work or part time jobs.
Higher ACT and SAT means more money for college and access to better colleges. Classes other than English and Math aren't as worthwhile unless you plan to make a career of one of them or you are good enough to get high scores on the advanced placement exams.
Driving licenses gives you freedom to travel, valuable picture ID and opens up more job opportunities. Get as much time behind the wheel as possible so that you can be confident you know how to drive even if you fail the test. Those DMV examiners tend to be assholes and would fail you just because they want to.
Doing volunteer work is better than nothing and can lead to jobs in the future so take whatever work you can until you can legally get a paying job. Doing jobs, crappy or not, during high school means you get money, you don't have to be tied to your parents and you can get better jobs in the future.
Keep sending resumes. You'll get rejected a lot but you'll never get a job if you don't. Even if you don't get a job in highschool, you get real practice writing resumes and taking interviews, something most High Schools won't teach you. There ain't any shame in flipping patties when you're 17. There is shame in flipping patties when you're 30.
Worst comes to worst, if none of the options are possible or appealing, exercise your ass off. If you can't work your mind than work your ass. You're in your growth stage so make the most of it and get yourself ripped and toned. It get's a lot harder to get in shape or get rid of a gut later on.

As people above me said, it depends what high school you're going to. Mine is a manget school consisting of 6 different clusters that are each their own school. Our school is ok. There are douches here and there but I tend to stay away from them and just stick with my friends.
High school on the first day is nervewrecking but after the first week, it was a breeze to me.
I have no idea if there is bullying. Depends on the high school and students attending there. Mine has only had small fights and they don't even last 5 seconds before a security guard comes in to break it up. 🙄
But it is rather stressful. (I'm in my junior year). So many tests and AP exams to study for. It's a miracle I've survived. But other than that, I think this is all part of the "high school" experience. It defers from person to person.

If you can, go to a school that offers AP classes. I go to a school that is EXTREMELY tiny (Think 200 students.... in the entire school.) And the highest level they offer is CP (College Prep; In case you haven't heard of it, its lower level then AP but a little bit higher then reg. classes.), and it is really, really easy. All I have to do is my homework and then I get straight A's.... I even have an A+ in a few classes. (I have 99%s.)

high school, isnt really as abig a deal as peopel amke it out to be, i went to an intercity public school in San Francisco, and its not so much like what you see on tv or in manga, in my case anyway. I think the most important thing is truly being yourself, no matter how cliche that sounds, because then you don't get over run by trying to fit in and disreguarding everything else. You'll do fine, 🙂
