i watched the anime of this, but i heard it is different. i enjoyed the anime alot, everything about it
so how is it compared to the anime?
The anime was better. The manga lost it´s way later on but the gonzo production had an overall story arc for all the characters and satisfied me a lot. A rarety for gonzo.
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

It's all based on a novel, but I consider every facet of "Welcome To The NHK" as a collectively complete story.
I've honestly never indulged myself in the anime, but I can definitively say I enjoyed the manga more than the novel, but from what I've seen of the anime, it tries to combine the manga and novel.
Which is "better"? Who knows? Maybe this thread will inspier me to watch the anime so I can give you a definitive conclusion, although, honestly? This just might be one of those series where ALL mediums are universally entertaining.
In the end, I recommend that you explore ALL of them.

Ironically I think exactly the same of the manga. It manages to bring all the character's fate together and although certainly less explicit than the anime, everything is concluded in a satisfying fashion, and I would say in a better way than the anime did.
Some things left me quite perplexed in Gonzo's story, such as the president's brother's development. What's more, many characters like Misaki feel really lacking even in the way they're expressed and it focuses too much upon Satou without even giving him a real progress. Not that the manga was flawless, but it did feel much more cohesive at the least.
