Global Warming

Hmm. I think that, rather than "Global Warming' it is some sort of climate change going on (not necessarily getting warmer). I can't say if humans have a huge role in this because, in all honesty, the weather technology/records we have today haven't been around long enough to track the weather cycles of a planet that is possibly a few billion years old. So, I think we don't know enough to differentiate between a human-caused climate change or a natural climate change if you understand what I mean. Regardless of all that, I feel as though humans have definitely had some negative impact on the planet.

Certainly doesn't seem like it at the moment. The entire USA is going through a freakin' deep freeze. (Aside from Southern California, but the weather NEVER changes here, so I'm not surprised.) I mean, look at this map; http://i.imwx.com/images/maps/current/acttemp_600x405.jpg
WTF?
Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?

Oh, just for the record, global warming just doesn't mean getting warmer weather-wise. It means that the temperatures are going on both the deep ends (freezing and boiling) and not just all heat. Some people assume that just because the name is "global warming" it means that the globe is warming, but there's more to it than that.
As for me, I'm not sure if it's global warming or not, but we really are suffering climate change. I mean, I've noticed that in where I live, it gets warmer every year, but it's nothing compared to what's happening in the other parts of the US. I can't say it's global warming or anything... but it's definitely obvious that we're going through climate change.

Global Warming is overrated.

Global Warming is real, that is a fact
are we the cause of it? maybe/most likely (only time can tell)
what we going do about it? probably nothing (the goverment is more worry about the economy and foreign affairs then a little melt in the ice or rise of the sea water; cruel but true)

Global warming is very much a fact.
The thing I have trouble believing however is that it's the fault of people. I seriously doubt humans have that much of a significance.
The way I see it, global warming is no more than a natural occurence. It seems very illogical to me to think that climates don't gradually change.
I read somewhere a while ago that in the time of the roman empire, Britain actually had vinyards. Brittain!
There are also records that say the river thames actually completely froze regularly during winter somewhere in the middle ages.
The planet is an ever changing organism of sorts. Nature is never static. Also, does anyone recall a fun little theory back in the 70s called global cooling? That too, was supposedly caused by CO2 emissions.
Maybe it is all just a ruse by governments and stuff to scare people into saving energy and to consume less gasoline. Oil isn't infinite you know.
This winter is hella cold though, I wouldn't mind some global warming right now.
The world isn't going to get warmer... is going to get more extreme.
Now is our fault? not completely, is a fact that earth climate changes over time, but is also a fact that we are accelerating the process.
However this is being tackled in a VERY stupid way... governments want to make us believe that we can stop this... get over yourselves, we can't terraform, we can't just decide to change the climate and get it done, is a fucking process that takes decades/centuries and what is done is done.
Governments should be improving food supply over the world so when the crops start to die in certain parts of the world, there will be new supplies and stockpiles ready to deal with the problem... BUT HEY!!! 89% of mankind is stupid, and as such famine is unavoidable (is already happening).
Well, no matter what we do, we screw the
planet over. Just don't ruin it before I die.

I dunno if I believe in it or not, but I don't see how cutting back on our emissions could do any bad. 😐

Its easy to tell how weather has effected the earth in the past billions of years. Its called geology.
Just because Michaelangelo didn't turn on a TV to see what the weather would be like, doesn't mean we have no way to determine how much rain fell, how much snow covered the earth, whether there was an earthquake, or a tsunami hundreds of years ago or volcanic eruptions.

OWNED
Really, is a fact we accelerated the process, people argue about the degree of our mess, but is pretty clear there is a mess.
I agree with that guy, Democrazy doesn't solve anything, it never did, and never will... democrazy type of government only works to keep the status quo, and is a fact the present situation is WRONG... I declare world wide Tyranny as a new government type, and the tyrant should be me... or Chuck Norris.

I think that climate change/global warming is happening, but that it is natural. Snow falls fluctuate year by year and same with the weather. In the long run, it maintains itself. After all, isn't it a bit egotistical to think, that we who have not been around a long time in earth's history would have such a great effect? I don't know, but I do know that everything should be taken with a grain of salt, and just because a lot of people believe that global warming is happening doesn't mean that it is. (After all, didn't people before Darwin believe that it was impossible for humans to have evolved from apes?
Edit:
Just to prove the weather fluctuations in Canadian winters

Personally I wouldn't mind some warming here in Finland... I don't really enjoy it when there's -20°C or so.

There have been studies to both prove and disprove that we are the cause of global warming and that it is actually occurring or not. The only thing is that lately scientists have been going about research all wrong, trying their best to prove their hypothesis, and not stopping when they disprove it. That makes it so that we get answers proving two or more contradictory statements true! The only thing about this is that the contradictions shouldn't exist, so that means one is false, but pushed too far.
I don't believe that global warming is happening. Weather temperatures fluctuate. Its a fact. We might be destroying the ecosystem with our over consumption and overpopulation, and i guess scientists believe that global warming is more important than more pressing issues. And for the main reason they have decided is the cause of global warming, the hole in the ozone layer, hasn't been being destroyed by CO2 emissions for years, since it was over Antarctica for the longest time, and is now over Australia.

This sounds interesting but I am sure the gloabal effects in the future are going to be catastrophic 🙂
The ice in the antarctica IS going to melt and we can't stop it because of our emisions, "are we going to flood?" no! I have heard this duft line from many a people, if you put an ice block in you glass and wait for it to melt the water might move due to insteability and overflow a TINY bit however the water level goes down lol. The ice in the antarctica has the same princaple, you only see 1/10 on the surface and the rest is pushing water out.
What will actualy happen is that the water will get dilluted killing most of the animals in the sea.
And it will kill alot of bacteria over the sea as the cold water will stop the rivers in the sea changing weather> "who cares if it kills that bacteria?". That bacteria is one of our main sources of oxygen or the main source of things that converts carbon. Trees only suffice a little of it, most of you already know trees take oxygen in at night instead of carbon dioxide?
That will cause holes in the ozone layers, cancers from it, rough climets, droughts, floods, most of the ocean life dead, basicaly we would be raped by it.

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.
