I've come across various ways people would often rate series, but it doesn't always come under a clear criterion. I understand that most of it is biased,, but the the majority lacks a lot of structural form. I myself, when I first started manhwa, it was The Gamer. I rated it really highly years ago, but after reading hundreds of other series, I can no longer value it the same way, aside from the sentimental aspect.

The closest I've seen so far to a standardised criterion is the 10-point rating system, which uses decimals. I'll explain how I interpret such values. Please let me know what you think.

📖 Rating Guide (0.0–10.0)

🔴 0.0 – 1.9: Abysmal

0.0–0.4 → Completely unreadable, broken art/story, offensive without intent, no redeeming quality.

0.5–0.9 → Almost non-functional; might be a random mess of tropes/art that makes no sense.

1.0–1.4 → Barely coherent; only thing keeping it above 0 is legibility or one salvageable trait.

1.5–1.9 → Still terrible, but at least has one idea or character that could’ve worked.

🟠 2.0 – 3.9: Very Poor

2.0–2.4 → Low effort, inconsistent art/writing, shallow worldbuilding.

2.5–2.9 → A few interesting concepts, but executed very poorly.

3.0–3.4 → Still bad overall, but you can see glimpses of potential.

3.5–3.9 → Flawed but maybe enjoyable if you really like the genre/tropes.

🟡 4.0 – 4.9: Mediocre / Below Average

4.0–4.4 → Forgettable filler; you wouldn’t recommend it.

4.5–4.9 → Weak, but has enough consistency that some people may enjoy it casually.

🟢 5.0 – 5.9: Average

5.0–5.4 → Standard; nothing special, nothing awful. Purely middle-of-the-road.

5.5–5.9 → Slightly above average; has some fun arcs, art, or ideas, but overall generic.

🔵 6.0 – 6.9: Decent

6.0–6.4 → Competent but flawed; worth a read if you like the premise.

6.5–6.9 → Solid; enjoyable, though not remarkable.

🟣 7.0 – 7.9: Good

7.0–7.4 → Definitely enjoyable; good art or characters, minor flaws.

7.5–7.9 → Strongly good; memorable characters, arcs you’d recommend, above the pack.

🌟 8.0 – 8.9: Very Good

8.0–8.4 → Consistently enjoyable with strong highlights.

8.5–8.9 → Excellent; near “must read” territory, only small issues keep it from masterpiece status.

🏆 9.0 – 9.9: Outstanding

9.0–9.4 → Almost flawless, highly polished, widely recommendable.

9.5–9.9 → Genre-defining, peak storytelling/art; sticks with you for years.

💎 10.0: Masterpiece

10.0 → A perfect work for what it sets out to do. Timeless, endlessly re-readable, nearly impossible to improve.

⚖️ How to Interpret the Decimal

The integer (whole number) = the tier (e.g., 7 = good, 8 = very good).

The decimal (x.0 → x.9) = the strength within that tier.

x.0–x.2 = Low end of the tier. Barely qualifies.

x.3–x.6 = Solidly within the tier. Representative.

x.7–x.9 = High end of the tier. Almost reaching the next category.

Example:

7.0 = just qualifies as “good.”

7.4 = securely good.

7.8 = almost “very good.”

8.9 = near-masterpiece, but not quite. __

"With this in mind, have you guys read anything worth 9+?"
