Inspired by the "L=Batman?" thread.

So heres the deal.
I am one of the very few people who have somehow against all odds kept watching the Naruto Shippuuden anime episodes weekly, and frankly I just can't take it anymore.

It's one thing how the manga portrays Naruto getting his sorry ass whooped, but the anime just takes it to a whole new level. Just when I thought that it is not possible to make Naruto look any worse the new filler arc of Naruto Shippuuden comes out...

There is at least a good 5-10 minutes of animation EVERY episode that only shows Naruto get the living daylights pounded out of him, just so he can get back up and get some more the following week...

He is officially the worst shonen manga protagonist ever! (in my books anyway)
My money is on the Punching Bag, if they fight Narutard will hit it only to get hit by the rebound (can u say that?).

Come to think of it they are both quite alike... get beaten up to no end and when the guy who does the beating gets tired they both swing back and knock him out.
This could be Naruto's greatest challenge yet!

It has a lot to do with how the show in general flagrantly recycles the whole "Naruto understands the pain and unfairness of rejection and isolation, so he can make a connection with (Sasuke/Haku/Neji/Gaara/Sora/antagonistic character X with a tortured past) that no one else can, and if the tortured character in question should happen to be the antagonist, Naruto can always either defeat them or martyr himself to them and in doing so finally get through to them the error of their ways and that they're really not alone" schtick over and over and over again ad nauseam. Really, Naruto's just a bad, unrealistic, languid character in general. Him getting his ass kicked over and over is just a symptom of that.

Allow me to reacquaint you with... THE GROUND!

Yeah... thats true. Very shallow character, and since he is the protagonist it just makes the entire plot shallow because no matter what happens Naruto's shitty bonds will prevail in the end. Or something along those lines you said, will make Sasuke or antagonistic character X with a tortured past see the error or their ways...

Whatever happened to the good old days of storytelling where the good character just beats all of the evil guys asses with a Kamehameha?

yep, i watched naruto shippuuden 71 today and i skipped almost half of the episode. And cmon, being punched by Sora transformed and getting up? Yeah, when even Orochimaru ended with neck/limbs distorted/broken -_-'

Same for when Naruto protected Sakura with his body from the energy/chakra ball fired by Sora/Ninetail: Yamato used the wooden shield-thingy, the surrounding trees were eradicated and Naruto...Naruto still HAD HIS JERSEY INTACT? O_O Ma lol...sadness ensues

I keep watching NS more like an habit than else, it was epic only to pass through last season endless fillers with ultimately shitty drawings (hope they fired the drawing team, fgs)

I used to watch/read Naruto habitually but luckily I was eventually able to discern how pointless the series was. Naruto really is a pathetic excuse for a main character (though somehow most of the shows supporting characters pissed me off more). At the beginning of the series I thought he was all right for what he was, the down on his luck good natured idiot who couldn't get anything right, but he eventually became one of the reasons I dropped the series after awhile.

In short, the punching bag wins in just about every way imaginable.

the episodes right now are just fillers, so its a sure thing they will be crap, dont worry, after fillers the history continues.....I think.....lol

No one kills anyone in shounen anime anymore. Or at least action anime. It's a damn shame. And Rasengan is a lame excuse for an ultimate attack.

yes, and while Rasengan, on any structure-object-environment, works like sulfuric acid/TnT/c4, on humans its represented as a heavy blow on the body, while istead it should actually CARVE the meat...

And what about Naruto's ninja-stile? Basically a brawler (fists fists and some kicks every now and then) who can only multiply himself (mass brawling?Hooligans?): now i know why his father was blond haired, he was Irish.

In the good old days, I think that everyone was a punching bag... at least it's just one now.

But there's more than one side to Naruto's character. I guess that he has his "modes". As of now, really, I just want to see the series closing. The fights could be shorter.

i was thinking that Naruto is becoming more and more a punching bag because the series is becoming more and more like Power Rangers (violence likewise) or even Pokemon, so just beating beating beating and the ebil dude goes down. Little/no consequences, everyone recovers with at worst a week in the hospital. Cmon they even used a one-time-use-only resurrection jutsu in order to not kill away Gaara...good grief...

He's a punching bag..I don't seem to see the point why he went to train with jiraiya..He just get beaten and beaten..I don't even see the differents between the old naruto and the new naruto..He keep using the same jutsu..I would like to see him use mass destruction jutsu..Beside that, why so obsess with sasuke..I began to think those two are gays..

Personally I blame Yamato. If I remember correctly, wasn't the main focus of his training with Jiraiya to teach him how to use the kyuubi's chakra? Then as soon as he gets back from said training, Yamato tells him to never use the kyuubi's chakra again because he burned Sakura's arm while in four-tails mode. And of course Naruto goes along with it. Pfft. Dumb bitch was asking for it anyway. If you're stupid enough to try and reason with Naruto when he's morphed into a bestial, four-tailed fox-demon of incalculable power, how about you wait until after he kills the incredibly powerful, sociopathic snake man responsible for the death and suffering of countless citizens of Konoha that you'll probably never get another shot at before you do it? Naruto almost kills fucking Orochimaru, but Yamato's dumb ass decides he has to be stopped then and there in the middle of the fight, and uses his First Hokage mojo to undo Naruto's transformation. Morons, the both of them.

As for his obsession with Sasuke, there is the question of whether Naruto's doing all this because he really wants Sasuke that badly, or whether it's because he doesn't want to give up on keeping what he considers his most important promise to Sakura. If it's the former, then yeah, he's definitely gay for Sasuke.
