So after watching Precious I think I'm kind of into fat chicks.

Now, I haven't become a chubby chaser or a fat fetishist or any other synonymous alliteration. I've just come to think that fat girls - possibly the worst preventable condition a female can have in our society - make pretty interesting protagonists.

So far, I've read Always Together, which is about a fat girl and her equally fat male cousin whittling down with diet and exercise, and some of the manga adaptation of Silver (FUJITA Kazuko), which has a cute rich girl eating herself gigantic out of depression in boarding school. Both of these are very nice, but I'd prefer a story where the girl starts fat and stays fat.

Other than that, the only fat female character I've come across is the friend in Papillon - Hana to Chou, who is so not what I'm looking for. Not only is she not the main character, her characterization never goes much further than "fat is evil".

Oh, and no ecchi or hentai suggestions, please; I'm seriously not a fat fetishist.

I believe Ugly Duckling to Swan by Hwang Mi Ri could work...

I personally didn't like it, but it fits the fat girl category.

I believe that the best mangas are still out there, waiting to be discovered.
