@ShadowSakura
Well, she's not what I would consider petite, not tall (We're pretty small people) Around 5'2 maybe? She has cosplayed Lia de Beaumont from Le Chevalier D'Eon and Princess Peach from Super Mario and Chrome Dokuro. edit: Ahh she said she wanted a blue haired character (shoulder length, with blunt bangs)
Wow. Those are beautiful songs. Thanks~

I know..Hmm.. I just didn't know where to place it. And this seemed like a 'safe' place to post it in 🙂

Specifics: What do you need a laptop for? Web Surfing? Gaming? Word Processing? If you are aiming for a gaming top expect to pay more than a grand.
-
PC or MAC: Since your looking at ~$1000 this rules out MACs. The lowest I've seen a MAC go for is $1200.
-
Location: I've found out through EXTENSIVE research that for typical word processing/web surfing laptops, BestBuy is the best place to buy. They are even cheaper than online dealers.
There is a simple solution to every problem; finding the simple solution is the difficult problem.

Is it mainly for gaming purposes or you simply want it to watch the occasional movie/anime?
ASUS has released a good laptop for entertainment (N53SV series) which looks to have great specs starting with it's processor, the new intel i7 sandy bridge family. Unfortunately intel screwed up manufacturing the last chips so ASUS is offering the clients 2 options: trading the defective product for a new one or simple give the money back.
Heres an article rating this laptop:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-N53SV-Notebook.43709.0.html
and here's the article where ASUS explains the problem involving the N53SV laptop and refers the warranty given by ASUS that they'll either trade it for an equal model or give the money back:
http://www.asus.com/News.aspx?N_ID=Ur1Kv9j1fVCIDeRD
If you want a gamer laptop (which i honestly wouldn't advise since a laptop is always worse than a desktop on this matter... if they have the same specs of course) i would take a look at a laptop, also from ASUS, but from the G73 family, specifically the G73SW, also with the new intel i7 sandy bridge processors.
Here's a review on this product:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-G73SW-Notebook.45917.0.html
Hope i could help you on this matter.

With ~$1000 you could easily get a decent gaming laptop - and what kind of gaming laptop has no office capabilities?
You should avoid Macs like the plague..I don't know why it was even brought up 😐
Psh, Macs are way more contagious and deadly.
Also, there're no visible symptoms until the victim starts saying retarded things like "Wow, my mac is so awesome!"
By then it's too late.

OK, you want to go with a gaming laptop. Not cheap, but actually doable below the $1500 range.

Stay away from Alienware. I don't care what anybody else and their mother says about them, they are FAR overpriced for what you get, and being the owner of 8 of them, overall, they are CRAP. Between Battalion, Asus, and Xplorer tops are your best bet. You'll hear about Dell but their reliability is highly questionable to say the least, and don't get me started with their customer service.

Most gaming laptops are bought online, but shop around your local stores to see if they offer the manufacturers above. You might find them for cheaper prices too, or at very least, see what they actually look like.
Specs:
CPU: Intel Core I7, nothing below 1.6ghz
RAM: 4gb of DDR3
HD: your call (500gb is good) but keep an eye on HD speed, faster are more $$$
GPU: 1gb of ATI or Nvidia card.
Now, you'll have your ATI fans and your Nvidia fans but I'll give it to your straight: ATI cards are much more simpler to use than Nvidia cards but don't offer as much sharp graphical power. Nvidia cards can be a bloody nightmare to setup properly, but when they work, holy shit do they WORK!
Here are a couple models to look at:
Xplorer X7-8500
Battalion 101 X8100-U3
Asus G51Jx
Compare their specs to each other and begin to research. The problem with laptops is you can't really "upgrade" them. Memory and maybe the DVD drive but that's it. So, buy the best that you can get your hands on, so it will be able to operate everything efficiently for at least the next 3 years.

That laptop is a very good choice. Its gotten rave reviews and I haven't seen anything less than a 4 out of 5 stars on it. Continue to shop around, but I doubt you'll be able to find anything better.

For that price and since the computer is, apparently, mainly for gaming purposes you would better buy this one from the same site
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_371&item_id=033729
it has an additional 2 GB of ram and has 2 500GB disks for the same price of the G53JW-A1 mentioned.

Have you ever said something that came out completely wrong and no matter what you tried to say it kept getting worse and worse and the longer it keeps going on the more you start to stutter and in the end you just sigh and give up?
So tell me, what's it like living in a constant haze of stupidity?
