How do you motivate yourself to do something (important) you are absolutely totally completely unwilling to do?

I think the results and consequences.. what happen if i do/don't do it, it's opportunity cost.

Quote from turrm

Would you rather work hard and live the way you have dreamed of living, be super happy and satisfied that your hard work paid off even if it means being financially strained?

Or would you choose not having to work- no need for a job, ever- be extremely financially well off, still be happy but forced to give up on your dreams?

Money is my dream. 2nd choice for me.

And there are no children fighting each other in the myth of Theseus;

But there are pairs of children sacrificed on the whim of a higher authority so that the community gets benefits, which is directly paralleled with the pairs of kids selected because the capital demands it and their families getting extra rations as a result and their district getting extra food and wealth if one of the win.

The children in the myth of Theseus are supposed to given as tributes to King Minos of Crete; once they arrived they were to be sacrificed as food for the Minotaur, who was the son of King Minos' wife and Zeus disguised as a white bull (if I recall correctly). Theseus kills the Minotaur, and the children are spared.

here's a good write up on why it probably wasn't plagerism

thanks for sharing the thread 😀 but i couldnt take the girl/guy's opinion seriously since she/he havent even read battle royale!
also, most of the comments are coming from people who read only one of the two

those who actually read both completely agree on the plots being too similar,true they're both inspired from a myth but even the way collins used the myth is definetly a rip off of battle royale :l

The children in the myth of Theseus are supposed to given as tributes to King Minos of Crete;

yah, 'cause King Minos conquered their lands and all, as the whole point of tributes is a mix of appeasement and bribery to a conquering party to keep them relatively out of your lives. That doesn't discount my point that the myth of Theseus makes more sense as a model for the Hunger Games than Battle Royale, wherein the sacrifices don't seem to be a tribute type thing. In HG, they're even called tributes 'cause that's what she's referencing.

both inspired from a myth but even the way collins used the myth is definetly a rip off of battle royale

But I don't think Battle Royale is working off the same myth. It seems to be more in line with a Lord of the Flies reverting to animalism in a warzone type situation then the Theseus appeasement and noble heroism of Theseus.

those who actually read both completely agree on the plots being too similar

And the plots are really similar to Lord of The Flies and somewhat to the Legend of Theseus. Having similar plots isn't an indication of copying, especially if the characterizations and themes take different directions.

Is Rosetta Stone really helpful? I'm trying it, but I can't say I agree with it's teaching method.

It's not bad, but there are many parts that could be better. I think it is a good tool to supplement learning another language if you are taking it as a course already.

I'm starting from scratch, and none of it makes sense. It started with a speech-recognition-based pronunciation/meaning learning program, and while it's easy to figure out the meaning of the words, the speech recog program is pretty infuriating. And it doesn't even mention the exact pronunciation! I confused a 'm' with a 'b', and it didn't even tell me I was making a mistake!

If you need extra help with some pronunciations, I use http://text-to-speech.imtranslator.net/ on occasion.

The program doesn't even mention the text. I think it's purpose is supposed to be to allow us to deduce the meaning of various 'words' by ourselves.
And the words are in a language I don't know how to type - that's prob part 2; the program starts with the audio training, and there is no 'learning the alphabet' part, so to say.

put a word/sentence in the box then hit "say it"

if that's what you mean by "[yourselves]" then yeah you do all the work...

I don't know how to type the words in that language.
I don't actually know which group of alphabets refers to which object either. Though some of the words are obvious, the word for 'boys' in rosetta stone does not match with the translation given by google translate, though that might be contextual.

Edit - Yup, that was contextual. And I can't even figure out 'how' the context changed 🤢

Sigh. Again, I find myself in the same corner. I have another question, so I'll use a different post. If I'm breaking any rules, pleasse do tell me.

Does anyone know of any online Sudoku competitions or anything similar to that? I'd appreciate personal opinions too. Thanks in advance 🙂

Which language are you trying to learn? There might be better options depending on the language.
