Random Questions "Attempt II"

Um, so I have a question (may sound silly, but it's not): do you have to be extremely thin to have anorexia?
I'm asking because a friend of mine has gone on a very restrictive diet about a year ago and lost a lot of weight since. She has many symptoms of anorexia (counts calories obsessively, thinks she's too fat all the time, bakes cakes which she gives away to others, talks about weight all the time), but she's not thin - she's just slim and looks good. But I heard that anorexia is a condition of the mind, not body... so is it possible that she has anorexia or can get it in the nearest future?
If you lose a lot of weight in a short period of time, your body can't get enough energy from just burning fat (because it can't burn fat fast enough to supply the energy it needs) and starts eating away at your muscles; which is exactly what happens when you have anorexia. When the body can't get enough energy anymore from burning fat and muscle tissue, it starts to eat away at the organs, at which point you're in serious danger of dying from malnutrition. You don't need to be super thin to have anorexia, when you're super thin you're probably already in an advanced state of anorexia.
You said your friend started the diet a year ago, but did she lose a lot of weight (and how much weight exactly) very quickly, or was it more gradual?
Based on the information you've given, she could have or in the near future develop anorexia, but that need not necessarily be the case.
If she loses even more weight, then perhaps you should confront her about it.

^ concrete questions only, please. Openminded questions have no place here.

The point is, she does not show any signs of malnutrition (although I don't really know what exactly she eats) and her weight is low, but still in the norm. I'm just worried because it seems that she still sees herself as a fat person and is obsessed about diet. I'm afraid that she may find some other, more drastic methods of losing weight... But when I start talking to her about this she says that she's not like these skeleton models with anorexia and she sees no problem :/

You might want to see the movie "A Secret Between Friends". She might also secretly binge, which could account for the normal weight.
Anyways, you shouldn't be asking people on a forum about this. Consult a medical professional then her parents about your worries.

I'm starting up Photoshop. Any tutorials you'd recommend or simple advice?
There are times when you will miss what you never had. I wonder how you will find what you so desperately need.

Depends what you want to use it for. If you want to do original drawings then you have to get a tablet or it'll probably look like crap. If you want to do photo manipulation then it's best to start out with a simple tutorial that focuses on one thing, then another that focuses on a different thing, etc.
Overall advice - play with effects and brush types, because they can make more difference than you'd expect. But also don't go overboard, sometimes simple is more effective.
This tutorial is pretty good, and covers a bunch of things. I did it myself a while ago.

That is simply amazing. I had no idea using photoshop to edit a picture had so many steps!

Maybe somebody here can help me out with this one:
It seems that the only site I can access is this one. If I try to go to any another one I get this message:
*"Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.*insert site here*.com.
Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."*
I have checked all the cables to see if they're plugged in good, disabled/enabled and then repaired my connection, connected to the internet, ran the "Diagnose Connection Problems" in Internet Explorer and the problem still isn't solved.
Any ideas on what might be going wrong here and how could I fix this problem?
(Everything started to fall to pieces when I tried to update my antivirus' database. Since then I couldn't access any other site than this.)

Usually it's a server side error, which means you really can't do anything about it. Are you sure that mangaupdates is the only site you can get to. Otherwise try to turn your anti-virus off and see if you can access other websites that way. If that works, then update your anti-virus and reset it to its default settings 'cause you may have turned on a really strict filtering policy by accident.

Yes, I also tried Opera and Internet Explorer. And they also didn't work at that time. But now the problem is solved. Ran again the Diagnose Connection Problems and redid all the steps I said before and the problem went away in the end. Though I still don't know what caused it.
Thank you for your suggestions Scyfon & story645.

Hello~ Tasty humans of MU! ____ <3
Anybody that has driven a Toyota Celica (1994-1996) know a car that is similar? The exterior does not matter. What I'd like to know are cars that you have personally driven yourself besides a Celica, and felt that they were similar! Like the way it makes it turns, the way you can feel the road when you drive, little things like that. (If it's another toyota that's similar, that would also be helpful.)
Recently I've been driving my Celica (that I purchased a while back), but it has become a hassle (since it's stick-shift.) I thought I'd get the hang of stick-shift but I just.. can't. D: I wanted to find an automatic version of it but, the prices were a bit steep on my small little wallet! Bills eat away at it!
Any suggestions would be nice! And it'd be even better if you can compare details and etc! ^____^
To anyone that answers, thanks in advance! I will control the minds of civilians to drop dollar bills in your presence. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Question, exactly how long have you been trying to drive a manual car? It can take a while to learn, but it's really not that hard.
I don't suppose you were taught how to drive a manual car when you were taking driving lessons?
Anyway, cars with automatic gearboxes are for lazy people and the elderly (that's the general opinion in the Netherlands; most of us still drive proper manual cars 😛 ).
If money is an issue, you'd probably be better off learning to drive your current car properly, since you won't get back the same amount of money you paid for it, and you'd have to find a new car that may not be as good as your current one and could cause additional costs.
Edit: Automatic cars use more petrol than the manual model; so a manual car is more economical.

Sorry if I'm being a bit paranoid, but I'm been thinking about ordering some books from my local Japanese bookstore, whose their book warehouse is somewhere in either the Sendai or Fukushima prefecture.
Is it possible for radiation to transmit into books and etc?

Perhaps, but if so it would probably be in such low quantities that it won't pose a risk to your health; if you want to be absolutely sure, get a Geiger-Müller counter and check if the books you receive are radio-active.
