Quote from komurczakthealien

in Spirited away, there was a scene where chihiro squashes the black worm, then the spiderman says dirty dirty or something and they make something with hands. I suppose it's some ritual in Japan, does anybody know about it??

It's kind of a spell, I guess. You chant "engacho" to guard yourself from uncleanliness when someone else, for example, steps on dog shit. The thing they do with their hands is purifying the person who stepped on the dog shit (or the worm, in this case) by cutting the uncleanliness away and severing the connection (the fingers together symbolize the connection of the uncleanliness and yourself) so it stays away.

I really want to learn spanish I have not enough money to go over there for a period of time to learn it more fluent. I have had suggestions like getting an online mate who knows both spanish and english which I have done. I also have been told to get childrens book in spanish to help learn with the basics.

I would love to hear some other people suggestions in how I could try diffrent ways of learning the language.

Knowledgeable, literate, stimulating, satisfying, entertaining, brilliant, clever, fascinating, interesting, etc etc.

Thanks, but none of those fit my sentence - and Pikapu, I had the good sense of using google before I asked here.

The word needs to fit in here - '...a well-written book...'

Karaoke. I'm not joking. My cousins told me to try karaoke to expand my Vietnamese. Plus, Spanish songs are fun!! 😀 Maybe watching some novelas could help? Put on some Spanish subtitles to read along with that the actors say... see how they pronounce the words.

But it depends on what kind of Spanish you want to learn... Catalan (if you ever want to travel to those areas in Spain) is different from Madrid Spanish... and then there's Mexican Spanish and the South American countries...

Bottom line: the most important thing is to have someone with whom you can practice speaking Spanish on a frequent basis. Having an online mate seems like a great idea! Kudos to you! 😀 Good luck on your search!

How about "well-written"? To use a different word for it depends on how exactly it is well-written. But though it's vague I'll think some for you.

Ingenious, innovative, imaginative, visionary, poetic, vivid, subtle, deep, sophisticated, mature, graceful, profound, intellectual, fine-spun, penetrating, erudite, literate, lyric, lyrical, canny, esoteric, refined, crafty, picturesque, striking.

Thanks for the suggestions, but they only highlight my problem; I need a general word that covers all - or most - of those 🤢 Just 'well-written' sounds... lacking.

That's a great idea I mean I am no singer and don't really think I'll be singing along but your suggestions are great I will try them out thank you. I am trying to learn more of the native speaking spanish than the American/Mexican spanish. I only know the basics at the moment but I am learning slowly but surely. 😀

Then say the book was awesome or superb or say it's your favorite book. Write a review or something. I'm not sure what you need it for but there's no one word for it. People use superlatives when they describe (often a very crappy) book that they think the world of. There's no point doing that. The best thing is to describe it properly or just say that you loved it or something similar. What you're looking for is a word that doesn't exist.

What factor decides what names are shown on the friend list in Facebook?

If I'm not mistaken, it's by who you have (recently) interacted with the most. And also if they're listed as a family member then they'll most likely be there too...

You may be mistaken, as all of the people listed on mine are people I hardly interact with. I think it's just totally random.
