Check if maybe your Word is operating in French or something? I think sometimes having the settings switch to another language can make weird shit like that happen.

It might be smart quotes, so try disabiling them.

That was the problem; I didn't realize that Word suddenly switched to French when I copied a French quote. Thanks for your help.

I want a new sciphone but I don't know where the best place to find one would be. I mean if anyone could just give me some direction, some path to go down would be most helpful. If only there was someone who knew more about sciphones than I do.

This is one for the computer experts.
I bought a Macbook Pro today (13" baseline) and am in the process of using Migration Assistant to transfer the contents of my 2008 Macbook into it. (I've connected them with an Ethernet cord.) However, the progress bar has been stuck midway for a few hours, with est. remaining time of 40 minutes. It says "transferring documents for the user."
I've looked around online but haven't found any definitive answers--or at least, nothing that I'm willing to try (yet). I'm hesitant to act in case I mess up the process, but not acting isn't going to accomplish anything. Well, I do plan on calling Apple in the morning, but I'd sure love to get this sorted out tonight if possible. By the way, I'm accessing this site from the 2008 Macbook, which I can apparently use while the transfer is happening.

What will happen if you cancel the process?
Is this thing actually moving files or just copying it over to your new Macboob?

It's turned out all right. My mistake was starting the process right away. I has to change some settings on the new computer first. Thanks, though!

if you got vista or windows 7, when you plug in your headphones does a program open up called "Realtek HD Audio Manager" ? it usually asks you a question like "which device did you plug in?" you click "headphones" and "okay" and once it loads it works. If this doesnt pop up then look for the program, its usually a hidden icon on the task bar. Anyways once you find it play around with it to see if it works.
I remember i had the same issues on my dad's computer (his is a vista). I played around a bit with the program and it worked dont remember what i clicked though lol, it was ages ago.

This is a site question. I have trouble with using the category part of the genre search. Sometimes it works and sometimes I get 0 results. I've tested this in a few different combinations by checking the category tags on random series I've read and then doing a search with one or two of those tags and still nothing comes up (yes, I selected "search all manga" and not "only show manga not on any of my lists"). I enter the tags one per line, with exact spelling, and no commas. Can you help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I'm hoping that I'm missing something obvious 'cause this is a potentially great feature if only I could make it work 😛
