Hi Everyone,
In a few weeks I have time from the 7th of March to the 13th of March to go anywhere in the world! 🙂 – literally! I even have a reasonable budget to work with. Only thing is – I’m completely clueless as to where I should go. 😕 Where ever it is I would like to meet new interesting people.

Any suggestions? And why?

Depending on where you're from, I'd say go somewhere you normally couldn't (like another country). You only have a week, so I wouldn't go somewhere too far away just to leave shortly after. As a suggestion, Italy is a nice place to go. From my experience, most people were friendly to me and the lifestyle over there was interesting and much different. But then again, I don't know where you're from. Go somewhere where you can learn about a different culture. Good luck on your trip~!

Without knowing anything about you it's hard to say. I'd suggest Southern/Western Europe if you're from United States, or Eastern Asia. If you're not from US, don't go there; if you are, go somewhere else.

(like another country)

Isn't that the whole point?

(S)he could visit tourist attractions in her/his country. If I only had a week I'd think about going somewhere in my country I'd never been. shrugs

Go to India or Thailand, pick me up on the way 😀

Edit, forgot to put some reasons.

Interesting things in Thailand: Most gorgeous trannies ever, the only elephant potty training center in the world, breathtaking traditional dances and amazing food.

India: Probably the most diverse groups of people under one nation, there's like a billion dialects. Beautiful cultures and you could probably go and visit some gangstah temples and what not.

Downside: Poverty, sigh.

Asia or Australia. There's so much to do in both places, and in Asia, you can fly back and forth from place to place (different countries like China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, etc.)

Well, before you think about going to another country... do you have a passport?
If you don't, I'd suggest you get to that right about... NOW.
Same thing goes for an expired passport (also you need to make sure that were your going they don't require that your passport be active for 6 months).

Also, you should tell us somethings that you don't like, somethings that you would like to do, and what country your from. (this is in no way a means to stalk you... it is so we can suggest a good place for you to go).

But putting that aside, I'd suggest you go to California, US. It's a pretty cool place. It has both high mountains and low mountains (yes we have snow right now in Southern California), both a high and low desert, the lowest point in North America, some really great national and state parks, there are also islands that you can go to (like Catalina), we have a major transform fault that is similar to turkey's, some really cool caves and lava tubes, good sports teams (hockey, basketball, American football and football, baseball), if your religious you will not be lacking (I think every religion is here in some form or another), hollywood... but you totally don't have to go there, some REALLY great art galleries (we have the two Getty museums), high diversity, we have Solvang (it's a town were dutch immigrants settled and created a kind of Little Copenhagen), we have a Mediterranean climate, wine country (though it's not something I'm particularly proud about but you might like it), the Spanish missions, San Francisco, and we have REALLY good beaches (both sandy and rocky). Of course, there is so much more... but I think I've talked more than enough about it.

Of course, if you don't want to go there you should probably give us some more information for better suggestions.

Check out England.
It may be a bit expensive but you can easily go over to France for a day trip and visit Scotland or Ireland. Seeing as you speak English it would be a little less stressful since you don't have to worry about a translator.

But all of this depends on where you live now and what languages you know.

Yes. England is expensive. No doubt. Especially with all this extra VAT business.

Stick to the capital if you want lots of things to do. There are always loads of tourists bustling around there, loads of tourist attractions to see, open top buses to hop on. Yeah, lots to do.
Well, that's what it was like when I went and had a look anyway.

And that's a good point about the languages. You can get around much easier by knowing English. And the tube system makes it easy as hell to get around. Even if you don't know what line to get, people will help you if you just ask.

Make sure you bring an umbrella though. English weather is so unpredictable. It could be sunny in the morning, and have a downpour in the afternoon. Always be prepared 🤣

hello everyone! Thank you for your great suggestions! sorry i meant to reply sooner, but pretty hectic week

definitely! that's what my main goal is (it might not seem like much, but can see alot in a week!) hopefully i'll learn something or meet nice people

Without knowing anything about you it's hard to say.

right now i'm work/studying for the next 4 months in New York City, but i feel i've seen alot of North America already, possibly more than most (it's so easy to travel in the U.S.A. and Canada that i kind of want to save exploring more for later)

**also even though places like countries in the E.U., Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, are neat the American Dollar isn't really doing that great right now comparatively and i kind of want to be able to do more
**I've been saving up to go to the 2010 World's Fair in Shanghai this summer too, so i don't really want to go to China or Taiwan yet
**Pakistan, Indonesia, seem neat, but kinda dangerous right now with the terrorism, same reason kinda why i'm not looking to go to the Caribbean Central/South America too b/c of the weather and recent events 😔 , plus i spent alot of time these past few years in parts of Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic, and Trinidad/Tobago
**the Philippines, India, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia seem like the most interesting places right now i should see, not sure which is best though

but one thing I REALLY REALLY want to get away from is the whole beach consumer tourism culture, that i seem to run into everywhere - the whole starbucks/kfc/mcdonalds/fashion trend is something i'm getting very sick of 🤢

sure! wouldn't mind company, and both places seem really interesting
haha... i think my reasons for being interested might be a bit different than yours though 🤣

that's a good point, surprisingly i've been lucky enough to get by with a little bit of broken Spanish or Chinese almost everywhere i've been so far though and hodgepodge of some other languages
