I'll post here and make a copy to the random questions thread when I see the question come up.

1. Specifics: What do you need a laptop for? Web Surfing? Gaming? Word Processing? If you are aiming for a gaming top expect to pay more than a grand.

2. PC or MAC: Since your looking at ~$1000 this rules out MACs. The lowest I've seen a MAC go for is $1200.

3. Location: I've found out through EXTENSIVE research that for typical word processing/web surfing laptops, BestBuy is the best place to buy. They are even cheaper than online dealers.

There is a simple solution to every problem; finding the simple solution is the difficult problem.
