There's something about the rating that's been bugging me. I made this thread mainly because I want to know what people think are the reasons.
Looking at the What's New! page and sorting by rating:

1. The rating for the past couple of years has been lower, what is the cause?
Is it because the quality of mangas has been getting lower? Are people evaluating them harsher? Is it just because not enough people voted to push the Bayesian score?

2. Judging from the titles and rating for this year's manga, was there really no exceptional titles released recently?

3. The reason why ecchi/adult/yaoi are being consistently rated highly and out of proportion.
Are they really that good? Is it because people who are not into it just never read and rate the works so the score got pushed up? Even then, do people who read these genres just consistently rate any decent titles 9s and 10s?

  1. Probably due to more people joining the site and/or a general shift in the manga communities' standards and preferences

  2. That's entirely your opinion :>

  3. Sex sells. Sex/harem manga are popular. Uneducated and dumb people rate anything they like a 10/10. Go look at Fairy Tail, or something else thats popular, and see how many 10/10's it gets. People just aren't too critical
(edit: not hating on Fairy Tail, its a decent series, I just don't think it deserves a perfect score)
