Mine is a mix of the money and "It is a stepping stone to a better job". If the pay was bad, I have started looking for another job ages ago. The pay is decent, but it could be a lot better and because I don't see a future getting a little raise here and there I see my job as an opportunity to get more experience, so that I can eventually land a better paying job.
I don't care if my job is "important" or not, as long as I don't feel useless.
A good job, in my eyes, pays well, doesn't have a toxic atmosphere (your colleagues aren't assholes trying to screw you over) and you don't hate doing it (you don't have to love doing it, but at least you can do it without thinking about killing yourself because of how annoying/boring/awful your job is.)

Oh wow Transdude is finally banned, I was wondering about how peaceful it seemed for awhile lol.
For me, the flexibility in taking time off, but I also got a big raise recently that makes me feel more inspired to stick around. Also it’s remote work, so good during a pandemic. The job is boring but fine.
I'm pretty lucky to get a relatively fun job as a researcher mmm...
The wage is not that high but it's okay mmm...
I will change this world mmm...
So the world can change me mmm...

I like that all my coworkers have messed up dysfunctional lives
I'd feel worse if everyone lived in gated communities and everything was going perfect for them
I wouldn't like my self-critic constantly reminding me of the comparison

I suppose the "benefits" is the closest to my actual reason... Well of course i am software engineer and i like programming so that is part of it. I have my current job even though it pays less than previous and is less important and definitely might stay on it till retirement despite that. The main reason is location, because i am closer to my mother who was devastated after my father died, so i wanted to support as much as i can. And this benefit of better location is my main reason (and also it being the kind of employer with whom you can just stay until retirement)

As a stepping stone. That's all.
I'm holding it in for now until the end of this year. Huge workload, underpaid (below the minimum salary requirement), long working hours, no future career in that place, no appreciation for my hardwork. Not to mention some backstabber/toxic people in the office. Meh. 😅
I'm currently a social media manager cum editorial secretary cum executive editor in a small local media. I'm underpaid and doing multiple jobs.. But I need the job for my CV, for my future career plans, and since I need money.🙈
Can I re-vote though? I accidentally clicked "benefits" previously..

Where's the option for all of the above?
My job is a balance of everything:
- I'm doing what I love.
- It is an important part of critical infrastructure, so there is some level job security.
- Benefits are adequate.
- Pay is adequate.
- There is a path to a better job, because there's no way anyone's salary could keep up with inflation in the current economy. Fuck Joe Biden.

I really enjoy my job and everything that comes with it, so I guess a mix of everything. But the part I care about most is being able to keep doing it. I don't think I'm close to getting laid off or anything, but like... the anxiety is there
