Bump!

Now, we need typesetters for:

Neither will be released very quickly, so you can work at a leisurely pace.

The test is here: https://goo.gl/vQuPZA

Applicants should bundle their tests in a compressed file (ZIP, RAR, 7Z, whatever), upload it to a cloud service and and either post the link in our home page (http://bit.ly/2kC40Zk) or send it to me as a PM (Wraith at deathtollscans.net). We expect them to be able to do a chapter in a week (it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be required to do so - it will depend on the project, though we expect proofreaders to be faster than the other team members). We've had compatibility issues with GIMP files before, so we require applicants to use Photoshop.

People with experience who want to bypass the test on account of having samples of past work will have the test replaced by an actual chapter of the series they want to work on. This still means it is a test: if you fail, the chapter edited by you won’t be used. It’s high risk (having an entire chapter discarded because you didn’t pass), high gain (working on something that will actually be used instead of a test). People without experience can’t take that route, at least in principle. (If you contact me and I am in a good mood, I may let you have a try at your own risk, but don't count on it.)

We also need a proofreader. Contact me for test options.

Wow, quite a long time since I last posted a recruitment ad here…

Well, that's mainly because I realised MU doesn't work that well for editor recruitment. Most of our editors apply via the ads that run with our chapters themselves.

However, MU is, I assume, a good way of recruiting translators. That's because they rarely read scanlated manga, so they don't visit manga aggregator sites (unless they already work on scanlation or are actively trying to join a team) and thus don't see our ads.

But as MU is a source of information on all kinds of manga, scanlated and unscanlated, they do come here to make their reading lists, enter information and find out about new serialisations by their favourite authors.

So I'm banking on the notion that MU is one of the few places where an ad in English can be read by translators.

And after finally completing our recruitment for editors - yes, all our series are covered now - we are back to inviting translators to start new stuff:

  • Again!! (seinen, supernatural, school life)
  • Diamond Cut Diamond (shounen, supernatural)
  • Ragna Crimson (shounen, fantasy)
  • Lucifer's Right Hand (seinen, medical)
  • Primeval taiga (seinen, Mori Kouji nonsense)
  • The small plaza (we have no idea, but some random person gave us raws; one-volume collection of stories. In Japanese, Chiisana hiroba)
  • Desire Devil (first serialisation of Mitabi Irohara, author of the famous one-shot, Sex Manga; no idea what it is about)
  • They're Calling for You, Mr. Azazel (seinen, supernatural)
  • Broken Blade (seinen, mecha)

And one of our redrawers wanna do a few vintage manga. We’ve never done vintage before, but have nothing against (though we have no idea how to find raws for old manga), so here’s the list:

  • Constellation of the imaginary beast (seinen, horror, supernatural)
  • The Bride of the Demon (horror, shoujo)
  • Paranoia Street (seinen, horror)
  • Space Adventure Cobra (shounen, fantasy)

Bump!

A vacancy appeared in our translation department. The person in charge of Alcohol is for married couples is going to retire from scanlation soon, so we need a replacement for them. Chapters are short and light.

Here's our translation test: https://i.imgur.com/blqk3D8.png

We're also trying to find translators to start new projects. Here's a list of stuff we've been eyeing:

  • Again!! (seinen, supernatural, school life)
  • Diamond Cut Diamond (shounen, supernatural)
  • Ragna Crimson (shounen, fantasy)
  • Lucifer's Right Hand (seinen, medical)
  • Primeval taiga (seinen, Mori Kouji nonsense)
  • The small plaza (we have no idea, but some random person gave us raws; one-volume collection of stories. In Japanese, Chiisana hiroba)
  • Desire Devil (first serialisation of Mitabi Irohara, author of the famous one-shot, Sex Manga; no idea what it is about)
  • They're Calling for You, Mr. Azazel (seinen, supernatural)
  • Broken Blade (seinen, mecha)

And one of our redrawers wanna do a few vintage manga. We’ve never done vintage before, but have nothing against (though we have no idea how to find raws for old manga), so here’s the list:

  • The Bride of the Demon (horror, shoujo)
  • Paranoia Street (seinen, horror)

Prospective new projects are taken up first in a bait chapter mode. That means we use current staff to edit and cobble together the first release, and use it to fish for new editors to form a dedicated team. So translators are expected to do just one chapter in the beginning (but to be available in case we are successful in fishing and can commit to the project for good).

If you are experienced, you can bypass the test by showing us a sample of previous work. But do include a link for the raws so we can compare. And we reserve the right to request that you take a test anyway if the sample isn't convincing.

Bump! We're on an editor crisis, but I've realised this place is more useful to finding translators, so I'll be focusing on that.

Here's our translation test: https://i.imgur.com/blqk3D8.png

We need a translator due to one of ours retiring. These are the series we need people for:

  • Issak
  • God, you bastard, I wanna kill you! (only four chapters and an extra left)
  • Ichigeki (very small backlog in place)

If you are experienced, you can bypass the test by showing us a sample of previous work. But do include a link for the raws so we can compare. And we reserve the right to request that you take a test anyway if the sample isn't convincing.

You must submit your test as a private message to me here, or via to Wraith via Discord (https://discord.gg/9kTthjW) or our website at deathtollscans.net .

Bump! We got our translator for Ichigeki, and a couple editors, but we're still far from being comfortable. We currently need:

Redrawers: we have a full (https://goo.gl/qfnsc6) and an easy (https://goo.gl/Hc7Uf4) test

  • Funouhan and Sprite: do the full test, including the pages marked DIFFICULT.
  • Rain: do the full test, but you may leave out the DIFFICULT pages.
  • Aruite Ippo! and Alice or Alice: do the easy test.

Cleaners: test at https://goo.gl/W41Cvx

  • Nanba MG5
  • Shounen Y

Typesetter: test at https://goo.gl/vQuPZA

  • Issak

Experienced editors can bypass the test by showing us PSDs that showcase their past work. These should have the original layer for us to compare. And we reserve the right not to be impressed and ask for more samples or demand that the applicant takes a test.

Editor's applications may be submitted to me by PM here, at our site (https://www.deathtollscans.net ; to Wraith) at our Discord (https://discord.gg/9kTthjW ; to Wraith) or IRC (http://webchat.irchighway.net/#deathtoll ; to Momimomi); or as a thread in the Join Us section in our site. You may also post them as a response to this thread, whatever floats your boat. Bundle the PSDs in a compressed folder, upload it to a cloud and send the link. Please indicate which series you'd like to work on from the open positions above.
