Uhm, ok, so, I'm just wondering, who are the target readers of Yuri manga?? I get it that Yaoi targets female readers..

Not much of a topic ee, just a question that is so short that I'm not even sure if its ok to post..

Let me give you a history lesson. Yuri got its start as Class S manga. Meaning stories of all-girls schools and senpai-kouhai relationships. During this period it was considered a natural part of female adolescence to have mutual crushes between girls. These instances were considered fleeting and would cease once a young girl became an adult. But during this time class s manga emerged and its target audience were the characters of their stories: young women. "Yuri" which literally means "lily" has evolved into the counterpart of yaoi. While most yaoi are read by women and written by women, there exists sub-genres such as bara which tend to be more realistic and for male readers. Yuri is mostly written by women and is mostly read by women but there exist seinen Yuri, shoujo Yuri, shounen Yuri, etc. Yuri finds its way into all targeted genders and ages. (but its readership is mostly women)

you may not have noticed because we aren't as vocal as yaoi fans. 🤨
