I am currently watching the Highlander tv show from the 90s (skip the meandering S01E02-12) and it makes a good case for being mortal. The ultimate goal of an immortal, aka. The Prize, is to become human. You just have to be the last man standing.

I wouldn´t mind becoming immortal if i could still kill myself on my own terms, but we only got 2 choices. Never being able to put down roots would become a hassle to most, but not me. I have moved like a madman due to my job life in the last decade.
Immortally would also need a healing factor to work.

A curse, obviously.

I mean, for one thing I don't think a human mind can withstand a life longer than 200 years or so; no telling how crazy I'll go after a while. And even if I don't, there's the constant hiding of my "ability," the moving from place to place and country to country concealing my true origins and trying not to get caught and experimented on by governments or whatever, the repeated loss of family and friends and having to find new ones, etc. Waaay too much hassle just to live in this shitty world.

And as for thinking that you'd have all the time in the world to enjoy yourself: I think things are enjoyable because we know we have limited time to experience them. And human entertainment isn't so unique that you wouldn't get sick of it eventually; I think that if you're around to see how most things developed and/or evolved, the novelty would wear off pretty quickly.

So, no immortality for me. A nice, long, healthy life and a peaceful death at about 90 sounds much more appealing.

Assuming we mean Immortality as in, not dying due to old age, it is both curse and blessing. On one hand, you wouldn't have to worry about old age. You would literally have all the time in the world to see whatever you want. On the other you would have to see your friends and loved ones die one by one. Furthermore, you would have to hide your immortality. This would mean you would be incapable of ever settling down. However, with Immortality as in, not dying due to old age, you would still have the ability to end your own life.

Assuming we mean Immortality as in, never dying. . . It is absolutely a curse. It sounds great on paper, however even if you can't die, that doesn't mean you couldn't suffer horribly in other ways. For example, as happened to Hidan in Naruto: Being cut apart and buried alive.

Say......a blessing for the first few hundred years or so and then a curse after you've gotten bored with the whole thing...?

And I won't lie, I thought it said "immorality", which yeah, that sounded like an even more interesting topic 😀

A Curse definitely.
Just think you becomes handicap and your life is eternal. You're forced to go on and on without the accompaniment of any kith or kin. Anyway immortals aren't invincible, they don't die naturally, but they can be killed. You'll have to hide in fear of getting your thing known and getting captured by government or other organizations for research purposes. Many may come to kill you just out of sheer envy.
Well there are circumstances indeed, where it may come handy. Guess your life is rather on a failure side, then you get unlimited chances to redeem it.

I think a prolonged life is a better diplomatic solution than immortality. I'm 20 and just like any other person scared of dying. There're no after life. All you life behind ashes. And soon enough you start to fade away from even your own kith or kin's memories. Well, as you get older many things once of any significance starts becoming insignificant.
Hell! A unending life of boredom is no good. As life is short, just live it to the fullest. Try to leave no regrets behind. ^^

I picked blessing, but imo it's both a gift and a curse. On one hand, you get to see a lot of things, and maybe have time for that endless backlog of books/manga/games. On the other hand, you have to be one crafty individual to avoid public persecution and the government capturing and conducting experiments on you, plus that whole outliving your loved ones thing.

The early bird may have caught the early worm, but the late worm survived!!

If I can stay healthy and live til 75 I'll be happy. Beyond that, I don't want immortality. I hate traveling, so I'd most likely spend all my time at home on the computer.

Calling it a curse is you trying to rationalize why you dont want something you cant have.

Outliving your loved ones, infinite boredom, what even happens when humanity is gone or this whole planet becomes uninhabitable? Immortality only when it comes with the option of suicide.

Assuming immortality means you don't die of old age or sickness, and you don't continue to age after a certain point, then I think it would be a blessing. Otherwise, nobody wants to live forever, trapped in a husk of a body.

Definitely a curse. I imagine immortality would be lonely and that's no way to live.
