Do people use this these days in Japan/Korea or not? In other words, if a japanese/korean person state their age to be say 20 are they by the western way of counting actually 19?

And secondly if this is actually the case and they do use this way of counting age how does manga/manhwa translators deal with that? Do they translate into western numbers or just leave it be?

it depends on certain circonstances.

other (older) asians say im 18 but on my cards it says im 17

but my dad and his friends says i can drink if i want to.
(even if i dont like beer...) 🤣

The Wiki page you've provided pretty much explains everything already.
Wiki is an extremely large database of information. If there was any change, I'm pretty sure someone will add that piece of information in.
So as it says on wiki, the elderly in Japan use this system, otherwise, so i'm assuming the younger generation use the westerm system of age counting. As for korea, they are still following their own system.

If the manga/manhwa states the character is, for example, 20, then the translators will translate it as them being 20.

They aren't going to change the age because the system isn't the same.

If they're 20, they're 20! Simple as that! 🙂

I don't want to get into a debate whether "translators are doing it right" or not. What I wanted to say is that, if it states in the manga/manwha a specific age, the translators will put it as that age. I'm only going to answer your original questions. (again.)

About the manga part... u can see a reference about that in mahou sensei negima... when negi talks about his age... he 1st use the old system and later they found he is really one year younger 😛 . I believe they showed in the manga the way to know which age is being talked to but i really forgot... will have forced to check. 😀

Yeah, the translators of the manga would translate the age as how it's said in Japanese (like if they say they're 91 and we know that in western age they're probably just 90, we'll still translate it as 91), there's just no reason to bother changing it around. If it's integral to the story, then the discrepancy will be mentioned in the original as well (as per the above Negi example).
