How Much GL is Actually in This?

I'm interested in reading Revolutionary Girl Utena, but heard there was some shoujo-ai in it (no offense, I'm just not very comfortable with GL ^_^;; ). How subtle and how much is it? What's the difference between this and Shoujo Kakumei Utena: Adolescence Mokushiroku, (is this the more shoujo-friendly version?)?

Actually, I haven't read this series yet. I didn't know there was GL in there, but I looked at the info pages and it seems like Revolutionary Girl Utena is just shoujo whereas Shoujo Kakumei Utena: Adolescence Mokushiroku has shoujo-ai (GL) as a genre. I guess you should read the first one if you want to avoid the GL (as do I).

Err, if I recall correctly, in the manga there's no kissing or anything (in fact I think the only kiss there is in the entire series is in the movie, but then again it's been years). Plus Utena has lots of affairs with the other student council members.
In any case, it's a classic and I highly recommend it to anyone.

It's only hinted at in the main series, while in Adolescence it's pretty obvious. :3

I never noticed any gl in the series. Anthy was just like an unanimate object the whole time and Utena never expressed any romantic feelings towards her in particular. I guess it all depends on how you interpret the story.

don't read Adolescence if you are not really ok with GL. other one is ok. and if you still have doubts you can watch the anime. in anime GL is less than hints.
