I've been reading the series for over a year now and I'm starting to get annoyed with it. I used to remenebr enjoy reading this and looking forward to the next chapter and I got really into it, but now I just don't like where the story at this moment in time ¬¬.
I don't like the manga they are writing in the story, I don't like the damn editor and everything seems to be going kinda downhill. I don't think too highly of the relationships
Maybe Its just me or something but I kinda think this is losing its excitment!

I don't know really I'm still going to keep reading it but Its getting to the point where I can't stand it!
I used to enjoy it so much and I was really looking for to the manga being brought over here but now I'm not so sure ¬¬.

Sorry about the rant.

Does anyone feel the same as me? (might as well ask)

I know how you feel...

but the sooner you stop treating this like your average shonen the better.

What do you think is the plot point of Bakuman?

Is about 2 dudes making manga? NOPE
is about relationships and what not? NOPE
Is a slice of life manga? nah

This manga is about mangakas, not about manga!!! ever wondered why they showed so many types of authors? is because that is what this manga is about.

Authors and their lives, how they think, their problems, their joys, etc...

At least that is how I see it 🙂

If I could compare Bakuman to another it would be D-ASH... running is a very important part of the plot, but is not what the manga is about 🙂

PS: I like Bakuman

I agree that the story they are writing is definitely not what I wish they were writing. However that is not the point of his series, the point is to give you an interesting perspective on what it takes to be a professional mangaka. In that regard, this series has only gotten better. You don't have to like what the characters are doing to appreciate the way they are written.

I also don't think this current manga they are doing is going to go anywhere. There have been a bunch of allusions to the fact that other characters are pissed Ashirogi is writing a kids shounen. I could be totally wrong, but I think this whole massive arc with Miura is just going to serve as an example of what its like having a terrible editor. I think the point of this arc is to teach Ashirogi that they cant just rely on whatever their editor says and they have to create a manga that is truly theirs.

I've been following Bakuman now since it started, I'm not liking the editor or the fact that they are writing a child's manga, but I have high hopes for the future chapters, I have faith in the creators of Death Note 🙂

Aye, I was super interested in the manga at first. Getting to see how it works for the authors and editors was really interesting. But now it feels like its jsut turning in a meh love story. And yeah the series there drawing isnt interesting, and the editor is somewhat anoying.

Well still, il keep on reading in hopes of seeing/learning more about the world of mangaka's. but iv lost allot of interest.

I just quoted all of that because...I agree! And I like that there is a bit of romance. Mangaka have lives outside of manga that are and aren't affected by their work, so why shouldn't that characters in this story have the same? (That's what I like about the mangaka's notes in shoujo manga; I'm always curious was to what the mangaka's private life is like.) If it was just about creating manga, the story would be curious but not as engaging, and I don't think the characters would be terribly rounded. So I'm actually really digging it so far, and I can't wait for the anime and Viz manga to come out.
