Does anyone find find manhawas to be shallow or is it just me making bad choices of what to read? 😕

it's manwha or manhua. And i think it depends 😛 I actually love Hwang Mi Ri's work which focus on girl/woman who are strong 😀 People also have different taste so i don't know 😃

I say Manga[Japanese comic] is the best.

Typically this is how the spellings are used...(AFAIK)

manhwa => Korean (animation or comics)
manhua => Chinese (comics)
manga => Japanese (comics)

ive read a few lately, and i like the female characters generally, they seem more independent than their stereotypical manga counterparts
but i havent really liked any of the male characters at all

go unbalancex2!

As far as shoujo/josei titles go I don't see much difference, except maybe that Korean females are less coy (as many have mentioned before) I actually liked You are so cool and DVD. The male characters seem to be all the same, be it Japanese or Korean. Shoujo is not something I pay much attention to, but on the other hand I wish Josei titles had more theme variety (both Japanese and Korean). The Boy From the Moon seems promising...

Ive only been reading one manhwa title, which is UnbalanceX2 and i LOVE it! 😃
I dunno wat you mean by shallow though but to me..the only difference between mangas and manhwas is the way you read it 😛 (left to right)

I find that generally the characters might seem a certain way because of the difference in culture, other than that it's really down to the authors. I'm loving UxU, it's refreshing to read something without passive, complacent or over-ignorant characters.

From the manhwa I've read it the female heroine do tend to be stronger, mentally and physically, which is a plus. The female heroines tend to have more depth.

The males are a bit different too. I haven't read enough to point it out and label it as the one that is preferred but like in Japan they also pride the good looking intellectual types. However the males tend to vary quite a bit more in personality (not just the cool/dorky but cute/protective older brother types).

I'm beginning to look a bit more forward to reading manhwa than manga. A change in pace I suppose.

There are some good manhwas out there like, hot blooded woman and shin angyo onshi, you are so cool is also nice. On the other hand, some manhwas are not to my taste( unproportionate body parts eg. hands to body, feet to body are likely to lower my interest).

Notice the heroines to be a tad more aggressive than your usual shoujo manga character, and the male manhwa characters more or less have something hidden to their personality, like a dark character or something.

So, its not really shallow..there are actually good manhwa out there.

I adore Manhwa the more I read, I fell in love with the style and the storyplots. What got my hooked was Demon Dairy and The Summit (Bride of the water God, H20, Sugar Addication now to boot!) and with more scanlators working on more, I feel more people will come to like them as well! And tell what's manga and what manhwa!

manwha all t the way \m/ you shouldnt base your decision on just the manwhas that you've read, a lot of them are actually good, ide prefer the females in manwhas then most manga shoujos. I have to say manwha has different varieties and most are different and fresh, and doesnt seem cliche and doesnt make you say, wow like i havent read this type of plot before...like most mangas, but i prefer jap josei 😀 go nodame cantabile and kimi wa pet, but omg are the korean names looong

Hey anyone recommend any good manhuas? Good story and good characters prefered(obviously).

Gonna check some of the recommended ones here.
Also check my list before suggesting any because that's just pointless if I've read it(you can pm me or post on the topic).
