While reading the post 'Manga that scarred you for life" I discovered that the most disturbing manga I had ever seen had guro related topics, and I got them without knowing the shocking stuff I was going to see.

I think it would be nice if Guro was added as a genre so people could avoid it, or at least know what they're gonna read before getting the manga.......or if they like that kind of stuff search for it easier.

Guro is subgenre of hentai. If we added guro, we'd have to add tentacle rape and sh*t like that.

I wouldn't be so sure, there are some grotesque stuff back there that could probably not be considered hentai. For example Kago Shintaro's work, that is actually in this site and doesn't have the hentai label.

Anyway even if it was a sub genre, I'm sure that is something that a lot of poeple would like to filter.

Guro is a subgenre of Hentai. I think what you're talking about is 'Gore'.

You're right. It is derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the English words "erotic grotesque nonsense" but Guro is not a synonym of the term Gore but a specific genre of erotic art that despicts shocking and extreme violence (mutilation, dismemberment, bestiality, torture, etc.) in a sensual and erotic manner. It is the manga version of the shocking explotation films genre.

There is a famous scene in a Guro-manga that could explain better what I'm trying to say: In "Mai-chan's Daily Life" (A manga about an immortal maid which is stabbed, cut apart, disfigured, beheaded, mutilated, disemboweled, burned, crushed, skinned and skewered while is being raped) there is a scene in which "Mai-chan gets abducted by a scary man who finds out that she is with child. He cuts her open and rips the child out, much to the protesting of Mai. He then cracks the baby's legs open and proceeds to rape it and after that, he put it in a blender" (That scene was so shocking that it gave birth to the internet meme "baby fuck"...)
