How often do you find yourself thinking this when you open a thread and see what seems to a 5000 word dissertation on whatever topic is at hand, be it soup or sexuality?

Not here. Most people keep it short, concise. Though rarely it does happen.

2/5 TL;DR

Though it usually depends on who's posting and the subject, mainly.

Oddly enough I'm more likely to read 5 paragraphs worth about soup rather than sexuality.

I love soup and I've read enough about sexuality already.
Boring.

But I tend to read the first few sentences anyway.
It gives the poster a chance to tell me if it's just the same reposted drivel, or something worth reading.

Sometimes, but I usually get to it later.

If it's well punctuated I'm not intimidated.

Depends on the subject, or how "clean" it's written. If it's just a wall of text I wouldn't be bothered.

Though if there is actually some decent spacing here and there between the lines, it wouldn't be such a bother to read it.

This. I'm not put off by a bit of text.

But if the subject is painfully boring, then I won't bother with it even if it were a shorter post.

8/10 i wont read it
i will read the question and reply as simply as possible
if i have a lot more at thought than i will often use spaces in between sentences to make it more rudimentary

Only if I see >50 topics when I click new posts, otherwise I'll read everything...most of time anyway.

But TL;DR is basically why I keep things short. Otherwise who'd read it?
