If the chicks in Love Hina are bishoujos, then bishoujos seem a lot less two dimensional than bishounens. The chicks in Love Hina have way more character than any bishounen I've ever seen.

bishounen and bishoujo just mean "beautiful boy" and "beautiful girl". There's no other description. You can call Light or L from Death Note bishounens, and they're not exactly one-dimensional characters, and definitely not "pretty boy morons". I don't know where you're getting this description of bishies. Any young male manga character who looks handsome/beautiful is a bishounen, the deepness or shallowness of his character plays no part in it. I don't know why you're equating it with that.

The only thing I'd add to that is that bishies are supposed to be so beautiful they transcend the boundaries of gender.

I LOVE THEM! give me my bishies and Im super happy!!! plus so not true that girls like guys that are very MANLY, I read somewhere that girls actually like and think that guys as hot if they have more afeminate features...aka models and hot gay guys!!!!

I like guys with more leaner and tone body than the actually muscle head.....so yeah, tall and skinny is something I consider desireble in a male. 😉

In the real world they sure are rare creatures.
So when I found it in the anime/manga world I'm so happy 😃
And if they have a kind 'n gentle heart, it makes me sooo touched..

I was getting that feeling from reading the first two pages of this thread, and I understand why now. Guess you learned something new out of this.

Anyway, I voted "hell yes!" since it was the only affirmative choice. I don't necessarily love them, but I understand that they definitely have a place in manga.

Personally, I enjoy it if an otherwise "normal" manga has that one bishie character that constantly becomes the butt of all of the other character's jokes. I know I've read some, I just can't think of any good examples.
