Japan Rewrites History?

I remember watching a little show on Japan not too long ago about the Atomic Bomb and how some Japanese think about it now days. Its pretty interesting to see how much some Japanese hate us about the bombing and stuff.
My half-Japanese friend (that speaks no Japanese I might add 🤣 ) one time talked about the bombing and some other stuff and pretty much she was really pissed about it, but my Japanese step-grandma, who actually had friends that DIED in the bombing holds no ill will towards the U.S. She doesn't even hold anything against us when we put Japanese in the camps. She always responds "its not nearly as bad as what the Japanese did to the Americans."
Anyway, I just think it is interesting to see everybody's perception on things. And countries to tend to omit a lot of things about their dark past (although I do agree that Germany is pretty good at admitting what happened in the past was wrong, etc etc. Go Germany!)

Yeah. I always thought it was kind of funny how in my US History text book, there were literally one sentence on the My Lai Massacre.
And it really was just something like "After that, the My Lai Massacre took place."
The government and it's people will do whatever it takes to believe every choice they made was necessary for their freedom.
Really? My textbook had a lot of info on that, not including the stuff that my teacher told us. (He's white and was in the US)

Although I do think that Germany does a good job (and quite possibly would even if this wasn't the case), it's worth noting that European Union laws prevent them from denying the holocaust.

Germany already had it's own laws against holocaust/war crimes denial before the EU brought them in.

But even before the European Union came into existance Germany taught about the Holocaust. The EU had nothing to do with that. Germany did not want another genocide (among other things) to happen so they took the proper precautions. http://www.iearn.org/hgp/aeti/aeti-1998-no-frames/holocaust-ed-in-germany.htm I'd love to take some classes on the Holocaust in Germany, I bet it would be amazingly informative.
edit: this thread reminded me about Turkey and about their wonderful denial of the Armenian genocide 🙁

We never made them march hundreds of miles just to thin out their numbers. Although, we made that mistake once before with the native americans. Most of them are still getting shafted.

Uhh.....I heard about it too. It was on some major newspaper last year. Japan edited their history books saying that their occupation on China, Korea, and other country was not an act of war but for the purpose of saving China, Korea and other countries from ignorance......yeah......it seems that they want to bury of past of their shameful behaviors. There are a lot of documentary about Japan committing inhuman experiments on innocent people ...I feel horrified that any country other than Nazi Germany could do such a thing. What caused such hatred?
Of course this does not justify that A-Bomb explosion nor that removal of many Japanese during WWII in America.

I couldn't really care less if they change their "History", since the truth will always be out there.

today they are trying to rewrite history in their textbooks, and also have said america was the one that massacred million people in hiroshima bombing during world war II, which everyone except japan knows it was a responding retaliation from pearl harbor....
You may want to take a look in your own textbooks before accusing others of faking history, because this simple reasoning of the nuclear bombing at the end of WWII is entirely the American perspective. 🙄

Actually no. We invented this law on our own and try since some time to get this into EU wide law - but other European countries refuse. We actually have a very strict law concerning the happenings in WWII.
And you may find it funny, but no one right in their mind here denies the Holocaust. It's a obligatory part of German school education (e.g. the Diary of Anne Frank) to show the kids what happened back then, including visits to extermination camps.

Not only do they refuse. There are still people who absolutely believe the Holocaust was made up.

I talked to one of the sons of a survivor of the holocaust who went back to the middle east after the war. he says everyone he knows has long forgiven it.
I lost all sympathy I kinda had when he went on to brag for like 10 minutes about how the Jews were now the number one businessmen in the world. dude owns several casinos over in Israel. lucky TI.
