there is some serious hate for male musicians who don't look like bums.

Steven Taylor great singer, but looks like a complete hobo.

Same with Nsync, Backstreet Boys, a bit with Maroon 5 and now Bieber. Crazy hate.

Way off base. I could care less what someone looks like, and I'm sure anyone who actually feels passionate about music feels the same way. Frankly, the fact that Justin Bieber's look is always brought up (by fans and "haters") shows that he's more about the image, rather than the music. That's one reason I hate him. I know there are a lot of people who hate him because of his looks, but it's the negative impact someone like him has on the music industry that I hate.

And I like that you brought up those names. Nsync, Backstreet Boys, and Maroon 5 actually have some merit. Not my cup of tea, and you won't find me listening to them. However, I acknowledge them much more than I acknowledge Justin Bieber.

Your comment brought back my first encounter with Bieber. =D A friend of mine stuck her earphone in my ear and said, "Check this out!" I was like....."Is it a girl??" She said, "OMG, do you not know? It's Justin Bieber!"

There you go. I thought Justin Bieber was a girl, too, initially!

I wouldn't say I 'hate' him, I just dislike him. I dislike the fact he doesn't have talent (if he does, he doesn't use it) and I dislike the music industry creating celebrities through looks and popularity. I dislike him mainly because his music style isn't impressive...more like...boring and overused.

If you carefully analyse his songs....
The structure is very simple. Verse, chorus, verse, chorus...etc...and some instrumentals in some of his songs.
The lyrics mainly contain lyrics about love, dating, girls...etc. Come one. It's overused and cliche.
Most of his songs contain drum beats or similar electro beats and vocals. Pretty bland.
The choruses are very repetitive, "Baby, baby, baby, ohh" and what makes his songs so popular is that the melodic hooks are so catchy and it stays ingrained into your head for a LONG time.
His singing never goes off-pitch so it shows he uses AutoTune. It's embarrassing to have off-pitch singing and anyone can tell it 'doesn't sound right'.
But the main thing is that it's so obvious that the music is created on the computer!

This is unrelated, but Bieber Fever sounds like Bever Fever to me and that makes me smile... Anyhow this whole thread is redundant we're not in the pre-teen demographic, his music isn't aimed at us so it's pointless.

Hahaha this made me laugh. Assuming you meant beaver as in the sexual innuendo? Maybe not... 🤢

created on the computer?

What type of things can be done on the computer with voices? First I'm hearing about it, not saying you are lying but just haven't heard

There's something called auto-tuner. Basically, you sing into it, whether it's out of key or not, and it'll come out perfect pitch. Of course, there are extremes. T-Pain is an example of extreme auto-tune, and it sounds electronic, intentionally. However, I saw a documentary where a sound engineer took someone's pitchy singing (not terrible, but you can tell it just wasn't on key) and made it sound perfect. And it didn't sound electronic, either. So yes, computers can make anyone a singer, barring they're just absolutely terrible singers. But who knows, they may be able to even that now.

you can modify voices with a computer, you can edit the frequencies and shit like that to make it sounds better.

I don't hate Bieber.

But I don't hate many musicians.

U2 is about it.

It's not really Beiber I think; It's the scenerio. All these little girls who have not even hit puberty or just hit puberty are screaming and obsessed with a little boy who hasn't hit puberty saying he's "dreamy" and "hot" and it's really pathetic and well...just plain stupid. "OMG I LOVE him". And us adults are just please stfu. Thanks.

Although I gotta say... his hair is the most stupid style I have EVER seen. The mullet is even "hotter" than that crap. Donald Trump's style is better than that. Seriously.

well do they go as far as you are claiming? He does have to sing live too.

Or is that lip sync? I thought that's not done anymore

I would say about 95% of singers have their voices auto-tuned. My mom can sing better than most singers can sing live (no lipsincing). my mom is tone-deaf btw.

I'm not so sure about this, this is just speculation. Lip syncing is still done, but it's very dangerous to do that. People have been caught doing that, and it has lead to serious heat. That's not the speculation part, this is. If they can go so far as to auto-tune voices in a studio, I wouldn't think it impossible to do it live. I mean, I saw a recent live performance of "Blame It" by Jaime Foxx when he was obviously using auto-tune, which is a shame because that guy has some serious vocals. But that's because the auto-tune gives the song a different feel. So, does Justin Bieber use auto-tune to perform live? I don't know, but it's certainly a possibility. But I've stated why I don't like Bieber, and it doesn't have to do with his possible use of auto-tune.

This guy sums it up pretty much

That video is... so... long.........!!! @______@;; Super bashing...

Okay... I think I'll clarify my hatred... it's just that his song is played over and over and over and... yeah, you get the point. It becomes annoying. He has nice vibrato for a kid, though. xp He gets points for that.

He is a bad performer. Did you see the mtv vma where he failed at playing the drums. Also, I thought his dancing sucked along with that lip syncing.

Don't have Bieber Fever or anything but his music really isn't bad. Not something I would have on iTunes but jus music to listen to on the radio sumtimes. Guys mainly hate cause he looks like a chick nd he hasn't hit puberty nd stuff like that but they mainly don't like him cause they get annoyed by his music n all the bieber fans. Don't wanna be rude or anythin but girls usually hate cause he's prettier than them. xD Or cause he get's annoying to them too. I hav nothing against him but I prefer different music. xp
