Quote from Dr. Love

You have to keep in mind that for mangaka their manga are their income, they depend on it. So that's why lots of mangaka bet safe, and execute the already worn-out formulas that always have some section in the manga fanbase to cater to. They're scared of trying a manga that's too unique, I think.

I wish they didn't, because it's very hard to take any new manga or anime seriously when you can find 20+ examples of manga that did it better. And it's very hard to find other manga that are somewhat original (finished or ongoing)

I think this pic sums up this part of the thread pretty much.

yep...but i think some manga do need a little touch of cliche too, but if it looks totally similiar, by the characters, story and the way they interact, then it was a plagiarism
but i think ichigo 100% wasn't imitating I"s, even though they have some similarity...

oh yeah~ i just remembered!
the big difference between ichigo and i"s is,
in i"s, the main male character is the one who chase for the girl's love, while in ichigo the girls are the one who chase that lucky bastard main character manaka's love.
hey, manaka! u should act like a man! shame on u >:-(

I haven't read either in over a year, but from memory, this is what made me say it:

  1. I IIs the guy has a crush on a blond girl when he is young. However, she becomes a makeup artists and goes to america. In Ichigo, he has a crush on a a blond girl, but she leaves to france to do cooking. When she leaves, this frees up the main guy and a new girl is introduced into the story.

In Ichigo, I felt like the blond girl and the little girl who was his childhood friend was basically the writer splitting the character into two different people. Personality wise, the two blond girls were almost identical.

  1. There is a voluptuous girl in both, who never really has any shot and throws herself at the main guy. She's like a freak with a heart of gold, lol. Both of them had that.

  2. There is a scene where they goto a hot springs. The voluptuous girl is there and somehow the main guy is like trapped in the girls part of the spring. The v girl prevents him from getting caught by everyone else.

  3. The main character's avoidance of sex and romance was borderline homosexual.

I can't remember all the other things, but there are ALOT of story elements that are like totally identical. Personally, I still like Ichigo 100% because all the girls seemed to have a chance to end up with the guy and he didn't end up with the girl that like every other manga would have had him end up with.

Why is it like this in harems? Even the ones with main characters that peep at naked girls like it's a hobby! What is exactly going on in the mangaka's head when they work on the story? Is it something like this?

"Fufufufufu, I'll make my horny characters do the opposite of what they should do for no logical reason! That way I can annoy people as well as needlessly stretch out my plot that goes nowhere!"

The main guy in School Days is a dick, but I could never ever say that he suffers from #4. Especially in the anime. If you like stuff like Ichigo and I"s but want a 100% heterosexual and proud of it main lead, you should check out the School Days anime.

I think that by the end of it he's had sex with every girl in his class. He even has a foursome at one point.

I's and Ichigo 100% have some similar events but they have different art styles, I's progresses much further into the story than Ichigo 100% does and in my opinion I's was an immensely better story than Ichigo 100%. I's also came way before Ichigo 100%.

It natural in manga world, btw american comic is worse since they just use same character over and over again but there is any complain about plagiatism. Using same genre mean have similar plot anyway, i think everbody know that 😃

Are you talking about Nishino? Yea, she went to France, but that was in the end, after Manaka already chose her over Toujo. Before than, they were going out until High School, where they went to different schools. Then they broke up and, well, we all know how that ends. Also, you can almost say that their pairing was by accident. When he asked her out, he thought she was the strawberry girl. Before then, he never really thought about her like that. Maybe it was because he never thought he had a chance with her, but if you really look at it, it seemed like the one he had a crush on throughout the whole story was Toujo. Toujo was always that girl that he couldn't get off his mind, but Nishino is the one who touched his heart first. Also, you can say that when Manaka thought Toujo had a boyfriend, it opened the door for Nishino.

The girl in I''s (I forget her name), she left somewhere in the middle of the story. The main character, Ichitaka, did have some kind of attraction towards her, but you can argue that is only because things weren't going well with Iori (which seemed to happen a lot, even after they got together).

If you look at things in its most basic form, everything has similarities. However, it is what you do with those basic concepts that give hints of originality (which at this point is hard, if not impossible to get 100%). So yes, they are similar, but if you really look into it, they are also very different.

Katzura Mazakazu manga ended well. This is what differentiates it from 1000% Ichigo. A good author must give good finishes his sleeve, so mazakazu katzura is a large, for he respects his audience. 😮

Guess what? I don't even remember how I''s ended but I vividly remember the ending of Ichigo 100% and everything that led up to it.

Mizuki Kawashita has to do these horrible end to draw attention. I hope and I have hope to change their way of doing things. Shown to be a good mangaka.
No end badly needed the sleeves to be good. 😃

Mizuki Kawashita: He could not put the two girls on the same scale, and it shows in the manga. 😮

KAWASHITA Mizuki is female. And a female author almost always does the female characters better.

I know a woman Mizuki Kawashita.
The woman it makes it worse. 😔
I know other women authors, and not commit these mistakes.
For example Mayu Shinjo understands men better than women, that she said.
Women are always the same, has more imagination for men.It is a great mangaka.

Anyway what's done is done. Hopefully the manga has Toujou it deserves. And that the author and his characters evolve, not better not to evolve for the better. 😃
