With Yen Press becoming a stronger presence in North America, it is more evident that the pressure will arise once again on the general scan and translations groups.

see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yen_Press

The target is still general right now, but with such a large scanalation industry, they are starting to narrow the range until it has clamped down on the license for each title. It is a plan to sort the implicit difficulty in each area/field and overcoming the difficulties for each license.

I realize it is similar to the same pattern exhibited in the past by Viz and Tokyo Press. However, the argument for Lagardere is daunting. It is stating that 'we own the right to translate this material' only.

I just hope that by taking over the licenses for the base language, that translators in the future will not be harrassed legally in order to prevent releases by Light Novel or Scans.

Not to be a fearmonger, but I just like the community just like it is today.
