So what's the deal here? Why is there so much more yaoi then yuri?

If you just straight up search it here there are 210 pages of yaoi and only 24 of yuri. There is almost ten times more yaoi then yuri lol. Does that not seem ridiculous to anyone else?

Even if you take it to its less extent of Shoujo Ai and Shounen Ai, there is still way more Shounen Ai. There are 20 pages and 80 pages respectively.

I don't get why Japan is so hung up on gay dude couples to such an extent.

I'm personally a huge Shoujo Ai fan, and it sucks. Because there is so little of it out there, and to make it worse Girlfriends was the first I read of the genre, so after that nothing else seems even close to as good. I've read almost every Shoujo Ai title out.

Anyway. I digress, this is more of me ranting than an actual topic because I'm so bored and have nothing to read.

I am a little biased because I am a total yaoi lover. However, just because I love yaoi doesn't mean that I am against yuri. In my opinion, there is more yaoi because there is a bigger fan base for it. I mean girls ranged from 13 (maybe even younger) to 40ish (or even older?) like yaoi. I do think that there needs to be more yuri because if I were a yuri fan and didn't get my "fix" because I have read EVERYTHING there is that is in that category, I would be pissed. I also hear that there aren't many yuri scanlation groups either, that sucks as well.... I am just rambling, because like you I am bored and have nothing better to do. Anyway my answer to why I think there is more Yaoi than Yuri is like I said before - screaming girls across the world want it. It could also be that there are more Yaoi mangaka than yuri.... (this I guess would be stating the obvious, but IDK) ~

The thing is that mostly female mangaka write yaoi and male mangaka write yuri and there's not that many male mangaka out there believe it or not. Or at least not for the "romance" genre. Second thing is that mostly, and I'm saying mostly, male audience read yuri and girls read yaoi. Now how many of your friends are there who rather read yuri romance than some action packed seinen. See, it just goes this way. Yuri and yaoi are both under romance category and the audience for this is mostly girls. Girls read yaoi a lot more than yuri, personally I know no girl who reads yuri. So obviously there'd be more requests for yaoi than it is for yuri. At least that's how I think it is. It makes logical sense so...

Oh and I don't think there's that many guys who read yaoi either. Not even gay guys. None of my gay friends do and I'm here reading something related to them more than me xD

I'm a big time closet nerd, my friends don't read anything. But I get your point.

In real life I act like a total bro, when I'm online I read romance stories non stop. Yuri ones if I can find a good one. Maybe there are just not a lot of people in the fan base of things I like.
