Heya!

Question to those who have read both Fushigi Yuugi and Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden;

I haven't read either of them yet but i plan on doing so soon - now that Genbu Kaiden is complete and I know that it takes place before FY - should I still read FY first or which reading order would you suggest? :3

They're both in the same series, but the stories are unrelated and have different characters. FY was published first, so it's the story that began the series. But, the storyline in FYGK takes place at an earlier time, so chronologically it happens first. So, there really isn't any particular order that you need to read them in. It's up to you... the story that was written first or the story that takes place first.

I will say that FY has a HUGE spoiler about the ending of FYGK... the characters discuss what happens. It's the type of spoiler that you will probably think about the entire time you're reading FYGK, so for that reason I would recommend reading FYGK first.
