it ends at volume 12 and ive read through 11 and so far there hasn't been incest and it really doesn't give you anything to suggest otherwise. these sorts of stories are usually the ones with open ended endings that dont do anything but piss you off.

Except this one did.
Forget everything you have read in the last 11 volumes, the author just pulls a Deus Ex, picks the sister and cruelly disposes of every single of the other ones. I hated the ending but if you are into this, go for it.
Ugh yeah I wouldve prefered an open ended ending to the sort of c#"p the author pulled to please little trolls.

Bah, not interested anymore. Too cliche. 😐
Cliche? The ending isn't cliche at all.
This is a major major spoiler. I'm basically explaining the ending, so read and your own risk. (I think I've got it right anyway. Anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong if you also know the ending)
He ends up with his sister, they marry in secret and don't tell anyone about it. Only a select few actually know they're married. Then they go back to their usual lives as brother and sister. Even their parents don't know that they married each other.
I meant cliche as in: based on the genre, we expect x but before x occurs, let's tease with some y to make you think x won't happen. However, you know x will still happen because it's expected for that particular genre. It's the fact is that x happens that makes the ending cliche, not how it comes about.

Errrr except
They don't actually marry. They have a make-believe wedding, just the two of them, zero invites, or in other words, a makeshift wedding with no social (or real for that purpose) effects. The 'wedding' was just symbolical and known only by two of them, none of their friends got to know about it.

hmm...
The ending really doesn't really resolve anything then. They have a secret love affair, but they still have to figure out what to do. How long can you hide a secret love? IT kind of ticks me off because them confessing their feelings is really the start of a story, an end. They have a world of pain in front on them.
You have to admit though...
The ending is a little surprising for mainstream light novel. It's hard to believe the editor and published allowed it. I know incest is pretty common in anime and manga, but it normally occurs in non mainstream works and titles aimed at a slightly older audience. Even though this is tagged as Seinen, it's clearly aimed at teens.

So, list me the other 'cliche' series that have an incest ending.
Not sure if sarcastic or genuinely interested in reading some sibling coitus (in which case, I suggest you look into the gajillion hentai on this subject). Of course, there's also those deus ex machina endings where they turn out not to be blood related like that bunny series, but I would still call that cliche since the point is not that it ends in incest.
The reason why I feels the ending is cliche is because it falls neatly into, if I what I was lead to believe was correct, First Girl Wins (warning: tvtropes). I begrudgingly expected the coupling but hoped the author would surprise me with something else. The thing with Kuroneko got my hopes up for something different, so I'm even more disappointed by what I'm hearing. Incest just happens to be the series' "selling point", although it reinforces the expectation. Yes, I realize the trope it's a fine thing to do from a writer's point of view, but I'm bored of it.

In the anime the first season I was going for Minami, Second season was going for my lovely angel Ayase tan. The only type of incest I like is where it's just unrequited, and they are super perverted like OniAi or Cyclops shojo Saipu, because they are just too ridiculous.
