I don't think she's related to luffy. I was thinking it was some kind of tattoo or mark that indicated she was part of the revolution ,which connects her to dragon oso. It's just about time for luffy to take on that part of the story.

i think she is his mother and also the mother of ace(DUH) and he just remembers the tattoo and the reason why nobody is allowed to see her during bath time is because she becomes powerless when in water right (devil fruit user) and luffy will probally leave the island with her to save ace her son or something like that.

also its likely that the tatoo on her back may have something to do with luffy's mum, as we have heard from the father and the grandfather, and that leaves few other places that he could have seen the (gorgon?) tatoo, also "Shounen people" tend to think that way because of long experience of authors pulling out that plot twist. so if you get slapped 10 times straight from the right where is your first guess the next 1 is coming from...

I think it will not be as simple as that (she's being Luffy's mother). I mean, this is Echiro Oda we're talking about. How many times has it been where we tried to predict what will happen in One Piece's next chapter and it turn out completely different. I have give up on predicting One Piece a long time ago. I think that the only 100% sure prediction in One Piece is none of the Strawhats will die. 😉
