I was going to start a guitarist thread like 3 weeks ago, but since I know that a heap of people don't care about guitars or don't listen to rock/metal/blues/punk/alternative I decided not to do it.

So I was thinking of a way to include all genres, and came up with this.

Only one or two musicians per post, say why, and be specific.

Nobuo Uematsu - He really understands how to write music for Final Fantasy. I've played through ff7 & ff8 and the music throughout is both emotive and memorable. Every song seems to be perfect for every scene.

Henri Sorvali - He creates the most epic songs I've ever heard. A song can go for half an hour but be neither tedious nor monotonous throughout. I haven't found anything comparable to the work of Moonsorrow.

rie fu- her songs are all really good and anyone can sit still and listen 2 her songs, shes bilengual(2 languages), and she has a pretty voice
amano tsukio- all her songs are different in some way and just dont sound like the same song every time. her songs if u kno the english lyrics match perfectly with the fatal frame series in which 2 of her songs were used. i like her because her songs r just unique and thats awsome 2 me

It is not really because a musician is part of a band. It is more specific than favorite bands, but less so that favorite guitarists. I know that a whole mess of people don't listen to rock/guitar based music, so I wanted to point out other musicians, from ukulele players to bass players to contrabasson players. I mean what is the point of having a whole thread devoted to a group of musicians that play one instrament (aside form the guitar because it is so damn sexy)?

Jethro Tull - Alright here you have the direct outcome of one very, very dirty, smelly and drunk hippy playing one very shiny flute. Whats not to love?

Titãs - This was one of Brazil's lead rock bands. Although I don't speak Portuguese, they have a really good rhythm, and I can't help but love them.

Sure why not?

Never heard of him BTW.

My single most favorite musician ever is Thelonious Monk

Anthony Green - (vocals) - I absolutely adore his voice and he seems to be a nice guy. By far the most entertaining performance I've ever seen live. Followed him through several bands, wish he never left Saosin.

James Maynard Keenan - (mainly vocals) - Excellent lyricist, also sings and plays very well. Too late to see him with A Perfect Circle, but I'd love to go and see Tool as well.

Freddy Mercury - he has the best vocals ever and he could play the piano! too bad he died from aids lol Queen is still one of my favourite bands.

Joe Satriani - because hes not only a good guitarist but he also taught Kirk Hammett from Metallica and Steve Vai, both of which are also very good guitarists. Joe Satriani he is most noted for teaching but he does instrumentals, he sung in a couple songs in his solo albums.

whats so bad about guitarists anyways?

Nothing, seeing as I am one.

I don't care too much for satch, as I am not into shred.

My favorite guitarist of all time is John Lee Hooker
