Can I customize releases to show only novels and what I marked with "reading"?

Well... this is actually good as now we got so many novel releases, instead of blocking the novel, this move is a lot smoother mmm...

That's one way to try and decrease the endless novel release clutter, and about the only way you're going to be able to exert some control without 30% of the user base staging a revolt, I guess. Good idea, admins!

Some manga have strange chapter numbering or just really long chapters. Off the top of my head one good example that I can remember is Ookiku Furikabutte. The current magazine releases aren't split up, but the first 14 volumes scanlated from tankobon had a different chapter number system. One tankoban would usually be around 220 pages but only contain 1-3 chapters. One time a chapter was about 300 pages and spanned more than one volume. These huge chapter releases were split up into a, b, c... and they were still quite large, averaging 50-60 pages.

Also sometimes I see .1 .2 .3 or 1/2 used for omakes, extras and specials that aren't actually part of a chapter release.

Actually, we are not arguing about how they should be translated, but how they should be listed on mu.

I agree with you, reading Douluo Dalu as complete chapters was much better then SYWZ by parts. Especially since SYWZ was renumbered, and it made much more difficult to look for the next part in the raws...

My question was whether there are / will be any exceptions for the rule for cases like this. There are a lot of extreme cases, and I guess some will have to be decided by the staff when people want to add the release.
Another extreme case would be Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria (Novel) vol 1. I don't think anyone tried to list all the chapters on mu, but other similar novels might appear, so I think it can be important to consider some exceptions (probably only applying to specific novels).

ed.: Sorry if it's not obvious, I also approve of the change. Just trying to be constructive 🙂 🙂

How 'bout you stop living, since you're annoying me.

I read about 70 LN's and this site is my lifeline

After seeing the title, I thought you meant there would only be added releases for finished novels. I'm glad that's not the case ^^;
Seems like a pretty sound policy. But I'd change the title to something like: "New Novel Release Policy - Full Chapters Only".

I mean that is almost the same situation. The web novel release is like chapters 1-5 and the light novel rolls those all into a combined Chapter 1 with multiple parts.

I agree that this would be useful. The "Advanced search by genre" page is extremely useful. There is an option, "Only show results for 'Novel.'" It would be nice to have the opposite option too.

I'd really like a "type" filter in control panel. Something similar to the current genre filter.

No, it's really not. Each release is around 50-60 pages, which is about 1-2 months worth of a serialized manga. It's not like these are daily releases cluttering up the front page or even weeklies like shounen jump series, but more like every month or two.

If part releases were prohibited, in this situation the scan group would have to finish the entire volume/book in order to post here which generally takes 4-6 months. Possibly longer, if they have to wait for the second volume containing the end of the chapter to be published. In that time the scanlator group could even be listed as inactive and fans might think the project dropped/dead.

It'd be nice if they would let us add Novel like shoujo/shounen/hentai as a genre tag. I know it's not technically a genre, but I don't think it would bother many people and that way it could be filtered out of releases using the genre filter.

That's goes well with me, Indeed.
I'm an avid reader of LNs, but, I certainly can see it.
It was seriously a mess and a quite annoying one. And Keeping track of new releases becomes quite tricky that way as well.

And long as it doesn't affect Manga/Manhwa/Manhua, it all good for me.
