sake?
I love the stuff! It's great if you heat it up. As far as taste, that depends on the maker and the brand. I've had sour, I've had sweet, and tasted just about everything in between. There are just about as many flavors of sake as there are of any other alcohol, if not more.

I think I would like to taste it, but I don't really like vodka like beverages (with such a high alcohol %, and taste)..
I preffer wine, champagne and maybe liquer 🙄
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Never had it. Beer is the only fermented/non distilled drink that I like anyway.
I can't be bothered to say the same thing twice 😛 . Plus, I doubt I could find any here...
i found it at import store, but i've heard most abc stores carry atleast some kind
it was great, made my friend sit on the ground at the coffee table so it'd be like one of those little japanese tables

I quite enjoy it, even though I'm really not even to have tried it.

No taste.
It's water.
You can consume over 9000 bottles
of it, but when you stand up after that,
you don't stand up.

It's not at all uncommon to order just "sake" at a bar/restaurant/whatever, though. They will default you to nihonshu. It's highly unlikely that you'd get beer or wine or such, even if those are sake too (kind of).
I assume this was even more true way back when there was really only one kind of alcoholic beverage to be had, normally. So it's not hard to see why nihonshu got to be called sake in the rest of the world...

I've tried it. It can be served warm or cold.
I prefer it cold, but either way it's very weak and has a sort of watery taste. People who are used to drinking, can consume a lot. Hard to believe anyone could get drunk from it as depicted in manga (assuming that it is actually rice-wine they drink in the manga - as I believe the case to be).

That's why those large bottles exist, obviously. You'd have to be a real monster to not reach a respectable level of inebriation after 1.8 liters of the stuff.
Going at it using only small bottles (usually 300ml, or even 180ml) gets annoying fairly quickly, but it's still quite possible to get drunk that way. I assure you.

hmmmm im not sure if you have to be a monster or not, it depends on the acholcol content per bottle. cause i could ( before i decided i should slow down ) throw back 2L+ of 9% achocol mix quite easily. and 350 ml of 47% before im wasted.

The alcohol content varies just like it does with wine, but I'd say it's most commonly somewhere around 15% (quite possibly more, rarely much less). Which means one of those big bottles correspond to about three bottles of wine (if we assume it's red, and around 12%).
I suppose I would personally not be completely and utterly wasted after that. But drunk, most certainly. Which is why it's a good thing I get less hung over from sake. (Your Mileage May Vary, it's certainly not true for everyone.)

Sake means any alcoholic drink in Japanese =D ! I'm not sure if sake in English language means any kind of rice wine, or just nihonshu. If it means nihonshu, it's 15%-20% alcohol.
Far-off places with sweet sounding names.
