Immortality
Ok, so I found this thread http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=9115&hl=immortality which deals on Eternal Life,
Not sure if mines really different, Maybe this will just get locked...
Gift/Blessing-You have immortal life...
Curse-lets give some examples...
Yaotl[TMNT]
A brief summary, he and his 4 generals were cursed, he became Immortal,
His loved ones dying again and again..
He also thinks that its a curse..
Hidan(Naruto)
Butchered by Shikamaru and was buried alive(Immortal)...
**Yeah, the immortality I‘m talking about is,
You do not die
You do not age
But you do not have any regenerative capabilities,
So if you got butchered or anything, Then that‘s it, unless someone is kind enough to keep your head and keep you entertained for the rest of their lives...**
I personally thinks that its a gift, well, because I haven‘t experienced it and not sure on how heavy these consequences are...
Oh, many Mods and Admins are now online ... 😢

Since it doesn't come with any superpowers, I guess you'd someday end up in a research lab for the rest of your immortal life, which is quite long 😀

Haha, so true 😀 I would want extraordinary healing/regenerative capabilities. If I have those abilities than immortality is a blessing.

So, what you're saying is. . .
If you're chopped up, into a hundred pieces, you won't regenerate.
You'll get to suffer that pain for an eternity. Probably alone, for an eternity. I may hate people, but that doesn't sound like a blessing or gift. It doesn't even sound like a curse.
It sounds like an absolute, living, hell.

I like bacon so I may just be immortal so I could just eat 🙂 . Jk. I definitely would choose the Path of longevity but I wouldn't want to be immortal. Maybe partially immortal in a way that you could live forever but can be killed by like a gun or poison.

Hm........ I don't think you thought this out well enough honestly.
No regenerative abilities, okay..
But do I need any in take to survive?
Do I need food, water? Anything?
Or is it not really immortal, but just you won't die from old age?
What about diseases then? If I catch something how would it affect me?
If you place a limit on being immortal you need to clearly define all the terms otherwise people will only make responses based on incomplete information.

I can definitely see why it can be a curse sometimes, watching loved ones die for eternity and lingering on alone, unable to really put down roots to hide your immortality, is a lonely existence. On the other hand, the accomplishments you could achieve if you didn't die would be astonishing.
Ultimately though, I believe it is neither and both. I don't think it is a good thing in the end as the fact that all things must die is what makes life so precious.
Also, I procrastinate a lot already. If I had all eternity to put stuff of to then I'd never get anything done. 🤣 🤣
The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.
Those are valid questions though. From a biological point of view, these should be addressed since some of the issues of being decapitated/buried alive is directly related, eg hunger, dehydration, etc. Lack of blood flow and nutrients due to decapitation/starvation means the brain cells die without supernatural regenerative ability, which results in no consciousness. Alzeheimer's, dementia and similar mental conditions can also be an issue which results in one not even knowing they had immortality, in which case there's not really any reason to regret it since you won't be aware of anything (in the long term) even if they torture you.

Then that's not immortality...
Before trying to grasp the concept of immortality, you have to first understand what being a mortal is - being susceptible to death, be it through aging, hunger, disease, or physical trauma.
What you're describing here isn't the true meaning of what it is to being immortal. That's like being (for example) a Greek/Norse "god". It's close...but not quite there. True immortality, by definition, is scientifically impossible - and since we're talking about an impossibility, why not go all the way?
Immortality is the direct opposite of being mortal. This means that you do not age, hunger, get sick, and (the thing that's missing from your concept) cannot be physically harmed. You'd exist forever. Essentially, you'd be a "god".
But let's say you aren't intangible. Let's say you remain corporeal. It would still mean that you cannot die, hunger, fall to sickness or get physically harmed.
Now with all this in mind, would one ever consider being immortal in the mortal realm a "gift" knowing that it is all going to end one day? What will there be when all is gone? Would there even be a space to float around in?
Sure, the "perks" of being immortal may seem rather attractive to us, but that, IMO, is because somewhere at the back of our minds, we still expect for there to be an end.
So my answer is that being immortal in a realm where everything else is subjected to death, would be a curse.
