-the manga shows their relationship on how they met and how their relationship develops
-goes between flashbacks and the present day
-girl first meets the boy when he's protecting a puppy, she decides to stay with him until his mom appears
-mom notices signs of abuse on the girl and tries to ask, but the little girl gets scared and leaves
-the girl and boy promise to see each other and the puppy he protected
-the girl doesn't come back, and the boy is upset that she broke the promise
-a while later, she ends up working at the boy's house
-she became blind in one eye and hard of hearing in one ear due to the behavior of her old employer
